What is the new Uniqlo half moon bag?

Hi 👋
Wondering what’s going to replace this viral bag? (Handbag style: not rucksack)
I have a couple; they are bloody brilliant but are they becoming dated?
I love that I can stick them in the wash and the cross body means I don’t have to make an effort to keep it on my shoulder like I do with a tote or a shoulder bag.
So those who are ‘on trend’ …. What’s next after the Uniqlo one ? I suppose my style is quite Arket/ Uniqlo and I would consider leather but I don’t like anything twee or blingy…… and I hate those camera bags that say RIVER ISLAND or MICHAEL KORS down the strap.

I’m not giving up my Uniqlo for anything, it’s so light and practical, they are so handy. I travel very light - it’s my hand baggage at the airport and gets quite full then but otherwise if I ever need to take a bag (and I rarely take one anywhere if I can help it!) I take the Uniqlo, fits nice and snug under my coat in the winter too because I don’t ram it full.
It’s the perfect ergonomic shape and I just adore it - prise it off of my cold dead shoulder!

How do you all manage with just one "slip pocket?" 😀
I think I like the Roka one best.

Princessfluffy · 15/09/2026 21:24

The Roka Belsize handbag won’t stay on my shoulder

You’d be surprised what you’ll find in M&S bag-wise. Some nice shapes, leather & non-leather.

Uniqlo have just launched a new take on the shape in their U line - larger and in coated cotton

Also TK Maxx.

There’s nothing as good as the Uniqlo bag. I bought a Longchamp Smile hoping it would be a stylish alternative a few years ago. It couldn’t hold a candle to the Uniqlo - and it’s a full 20th of the price. I’ve just bought the brown corduroy for winter and it’s perfect. BTW, did you know it can hold a whole bottle of wine? I swear it’s a Tardis!

FlappyFish · 15/09/2026 22:05

And the new Uniqlo bag, though bigger, has the outside compartment with zip. Yippee. The missing outside compartment made me stop getting them and I moved to the Primark ones. You cannot beat the Primark ones really.

Meandthegherkin · 15/09/2026 23:24

I don’t think the Uniqlo bag will become dated. Where it sits is like having an extra hand and it’s very difficult to steal anything out of it. I saw someone steal a handbag in Barcelona years ago by just grabbing the bag and breaking the strap - am aware when anywhere biliary just how hard that would be with my Uniqlo bag and it would be almost impossible to just pick something out if it without me noticing. I can easily cycle with it as well which I like. The onjy thing I dislike about it is it’s completely unwaterproof.

Meandthegherkin · 15/09/2026 23:25

anywhere busy - not bilary (whatever that is!)

Now I really want the COS trullo bag! I hadn’t seen it before this thread..

Doublebubblegum · 16/09/2026 06:19

I second the recommendation for a Baggu.

I have their shoulder bag (Found after a long time trawling for something like the Uniqlo bag but a big bigger) - it's brilliant and fits loads in. They have loads of different shapes and colours and just noticed this website has so e pretty good discounts on them right now.

If you're after a cross body there's this one (which I am tempted to order myself...):

I'm still using and love my Cambridge satchel company bag

Epoisses · 16/09/2026 07:54

I have 8 Uniqlo bags. Got rid of all my leather tote/ formal bags.

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 16/09/2026 08:05

I have two Uniqlo half moon bags. I don’t use them anymore. I think they are dated and worse than that they are everywhere so just feel boring and samey. I don’t know what the answer is though! I bought a desigual bag that’s multi positional that is super useful. Also great for flights.

I tend to view bags as simply practical containers to transport stuff about rather than a fashion item, so I don't share your view of the Uniqlo bag being dated.

TBH, I don't really notice what kind of bags other people are carrying (much to SIL's chagrin when she spends £££ on designer bags and I fail to comment 😁)

You don’t need to spend loads for a nice bag but I don’t like to feel like I have the same bag as millions of other people. I like to switch it up and have lots of vintage bags too, fine that you don’t see them as a fashion item but they can be both fashionable and practical.

Silverbirchleaf · 16/09/2026 08:57

Just ordered this of the Next Clearance site. Thought it may be quite nice as an everyday winter handbag.

OsfameronTanamoril · 16/09/2026 08:57

I see bags as both fashion items and practical, but lately practicality is my main consideration. I don't like ' dump' bags like the Uniqlo where all my stuff is swimming about in a soup. Though of course, nearly all bags are dump.
Waiting for the day my Kipling becomes fashionable. ( I remove the stupid monkey) Will never happen, but it's so well designed.

Edited

I have one main handbag, a work handbag (contains work lanyard, glasses, and big enough for lunch), and then a few smaller ones in different colours and styles for nights and days out.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 16/09/2026 09:01

I hate 'dump' bags too so I tend to use a bigger one with compartments as my day to day bag then I have a pouch of essentials and some other bits - lip balm, headphones etc - that I transfer to my Uniqlo or Primark bag for the weekend as it's much more practical for eg walks, shopping etc.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 16/09/2026 10:07

I really like that but I wish it didnt have the branding on the strap, it cheapens it for me 😳
