Welcome back everyone to the new thread and hello to any newbies - join us now in time for the autumnal fun. 🍂💄🌂

As always when the Advent threads are running hot this thread is a little quieter but holiday releases, sets and edits are just around the corner. I'm super excited to be going to Sephoria London in October - I still can't believe I lucked out getting a ticket.

Some exciting homegrown news -after a few technical hiccups the FB group is now searchable (but private) MN Beauty Chat Swap/Trade/Sell.* *For those interested in the group we have a few joining rules you will be asked to abide by. Thank you @MrsBnow12 @CinderellaParker for your help.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but the Liberty Founder’s Edit is down to £126. I picked up the bag on Vinted earlier so I’m happy to abstain!

Looks like it has sold out 😏

user593 · 24/09/2026 17:21

Still showing as in stock for me…

Thanks, it wasn’t coming up when I did a search. It is showing as £140 for me but I don’t really need it.

user593 · 24/09/2026 17:28

It’s £126 for me but I’m logged into my account. Odd though!

I think it’s 126 for beauty drop customers with the normal 10% off?

Seems very unreasonable. My guess this is about parking out of hours rather than the lockers themselves.

Yes people collecting when aldis shut but the lockers are supposed to 24/7 access.
Gutting getting a fine x

TragicMuse · 24/09/2026 16:08

How much was it please?

I’m in London on Saturday and could make a stop by Selfridges…

£120

Fillybuster · 24/09/2026 21:39

Hmmm. Clarins offering 20% discount until tonight, plus 2 free moisturisers (choice) on spend over £50, plus 3 samples plus option to purchase massive gift set valued at £320 for £96 when spending over £60.

i definitely need more eye makeup remover and the Clarins instant (not the gentle!) is the absolute best on the market. So I can happily purchase 3 bottles to hit the £60 spend and I know I’ll get through it easily over the next 6 months.

But…£96…that’s basically a cheap advent. I know I’ll use most of the stuff in the offer but I’m not sure I need it. Somewhat swayed by the eye makeup remover being one of the items because I’m perfectly happy to have 4!

What do I do???

@ElizabethG81 That’s a great set. If I can get to Selfridges over the weekend I’ll be picking up one of those! 😃 (granted it has some duplicates but things I like)

OvaHere · 24/09/2026 22:05

I think I mentioned this a while ago as very likely but it seems to be confirmed that the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish pressed powder is being discontinued or reformulated due to the talc content and EU regs.

So for anyone else who has this as a holy grail powder start stocking up. SNK has 20% off right now.

Answers on a postcard re what is a reasonable amount of discontinued powder to own as back ups?

@Fillybuster Buy a cheap advent <helpful> I am available for enabling purposes round the clock. Your purchases are important to us. Terms and conditions apply. Calls may be waiting longer due to unprecedented times that started 6 years ago.

Fillybuster · 24/09/2026 22:16

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I triple checked the very large bathroom cabinet at 6.30am because I was convinced I still had some of the eye makeup remover in my stash. The total absence thereof was a very convincing reason to load up my Clarins basket. However I literally now just opened one of the other bathroom cupboards to find 2 full bottles staring me in the face. So my hesitation was probably for the best.

Probably.

I picked up the Selfridges beauty box that doesn’t appear to be online yet, here’s some photos.

That set does look really nice. I already have quite a few things from it. The morphe brush is really nice, I prefer using that one over the much more expensive Patrick ta duo bronzer brush.

It lasts a few years unopened, right? 🤣

Thanks for the reminder, I had been planning to get another anyway, and had a couple of bits in my SNK basket ready to check out (just the little clear cosmetic bags, as I want to keep my lipsticks/gloss/etc tidy in my small handbags, and the colours match my currently in-use Mulberry bags 😁)

I never actually use the CT pressed powder when first putting on make up but it's the only one I carry around with me to fix everything at the mid point of the day when I'm getting a bit oily and my t zone starts breaking up. I have yet to find a better fixer upper.

Apologies if this is a basic question but can anyone recommend a good pressed powder foundation? I have used Max Factor Facefinity Natural for 25+ years but when they changed to the vegan formula the colour is too orange and the texture is different. I have an old Bare Minerals but it’s not as good (but maybe it’s out of date now I understand more about expiry from these threads!). I’ve tried L’Oreal as Copilot said that was the closest but it’s heavier and shows my pores more. Currently using Boots No 7 but it’s a bit too light and not as good.

I don’t mind spending more on it but I’m scared of making expensive mistakes hence the cheaper options I’ve tried so far… I am clueless. I want it to be fairly light coverage and just take the shine off my face. I have combination skin and I am late 40s. Any ideas gratefully received!

That is gutting news, I love the stuff so much.

Today’s Boots Icons set is Nars. Lipstick and blush in Dolce Vita and light reflecting Luminizer in Eros. Not interested in this one at all.

That was another one that wouldn’t let me
click on it!

ETA ignore it is working now!

I really like the Saie pressed powder. I’m early 40s and also just use it to remove any shine.

LoveLabradors · 25/09/2026 08:16

@OvaHere ive not been wowed by the by Terry pressed powder. Likewise for oily t zone.

Talisin · 25/09/2026 08:27

I’ve never found a pressed powder that works for me that doesn’t end up looking cakey later in the day. But, after many years of trial and disappointment, I came across the unsexily named Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder which is bombproof on my skin. Just potentially a bit messy to carry around - I keep mine in a ziplock bag after An Incident.

I’m very tempted by this tooo. They sent me an extra free gift for being gold status too. Not sure I need a mixing bowl to combine oil and lotion though but I’m intrigued. I might not last the day!

Mejera · 25/09/2026 08:37

Pressed powder - i love the Charlotte Tilbury one, and have ordered a refill from Space NK, thanks for the heads up!

For a powder foundation, I think the 'Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation' is excellent - i use it a lot in the summer when I want less liquid, and year round when I need a minimal/quick routine.
