Life after Estée Lauder DW!

So I probably wore double wear for about 10 years off and on. I am 45 and to be honest over the past few years, maybe it wasn't doing my skin any favours. Then it was reformulated and I just couldn't get on with the new formulation. Having tried an absolute ton of different foundations, skin tints and CC/BB creams etc etc - I've finally found my holy grail and I thought I'd share!

It's Westman Atelier foundation. It's pricey! But totally worth it.

Runners up:

Lisa Eldridge skin tint (but a lot less coverage)
Erborian BB cream (but limited shades, the lightest one still a bit dark for me)

For anyone who's interested I've got oily combination skin and I wear a really, really light sunscreen underneath the Westman foundation, I found anything else made my skin too greasy.

Hope this is helpful to someone!

I’m using Lancôme, can’t remember the name, sorry. It’s very similar to DW, but my skin doesn’t like it and I’m reacting to it. DW was the only thing that didn’t trigger my rosacea. I miss old DW.

I switched to the Estée Lauder Futurist. I like it!

I’m down to my last bottle. I’ll be really gutted once it’s all gone

I seem to be the only person who’s grudgingly continued with the new DW…?

I am now going to google your recommendation. I have oily skin so really struggle ! Thanks for the suggestion. Why did the mess with Dw?

Can I ask how similar is it? I have dry skin.

I switched to Revlon Colourstay which I mix with a bit of Korean serum and I prefer it to DW.

Recently found Max Factor lasting blur which is also extremely good.

I had one bottle of Estee Day Wear, just before it changed, thought it was OK and switched to Clinique even better clinical serum, which I find fab.

I’m using the Eborian BB cream, but it really need a fixing spray or it rubs off on everything. I’m using a L’Oréal one. At 65 I wasn’t really loving DW any more.

I continued with it too but had to shade down. I also use MAC primer and the Urban Decay All-nighter setting spray and it is working.

One of the ingredients in it is now banned which is why they had to change the formula, I bet the company were annoyed as it must have been their best selling product.

I switched to the new DW but it's not as good, currently using MCoBeauty Flawless Glow which is the opposite of DW but surprisingly enjoying the lighter coverage and glow it gives me, probably more flattering on my aging face 😁

Have you tried the new formula? I was really worried about having to switch, but I got a sample of new formula from my local M and S and it’s fine on me.

I was so relieved!! I totally understand that some people have found the new formula doesn’t work for them but it’s just slightly lighter in consistency and comes up slightly darker for me. It gets a tad darker as the day goes on I think. Perfect for a night out!!

LagoLady · 11/09/2026 07:52

@Madamecholetsbonnet No, I haven’t tried it. I’ve read nothing but bad reviews, and most people have described it as feeling sticky.

I will get a sample, never thought of that. Thank you!

Hello. I have never used DW. I struggled to find a decent product and went for face powder rather than foundation, as I'd get oily. I tried Mac but that was too heavy and I became shiny.

I dithered about for ages but then decided too try Laura Geller and it has been fantastic.

The powered foundation is like a breath of fresh air, it is not cakey, I don't get oily. I'm chucking the remains of the Mac in the bin now.

I spent £50 on the palette and they gave me the foundation and brush free.
