Is there anywhere that sells adult clothes smaller than the petite range for women who are actually petite and not the average height of 5ft 3?!

Does anyone know if there are any clothing companies marketed towards women that are 5ft tall or under?

I’m 4 ft 10 and the petite range drowns me.
I tried on some wide leg trousers in next yesterday and they were so long they dragged on the floor. My favourite pair of jeans are woman’s long shorts from the regular section!
I have friends who I would class as an average height who need to wear petite clothes and I have looked extensively online but there doesn’t seem to be anywhere that caters for smaller than petite sizes.
The average height for a woman in the uk is 5 ft 3 and the petite range is for women 5 ft 3… how is this petite then?! 🤔

Children’s clothes aren’t really suitable because I’m the same height but not the same shape as a pre pubescent child so they aren’t made to fit a woman’s body.
I could fit in to them when I was younger and very slim but peri menopause changed my body from being 7 stone 3 to 9 stone.
I’m working hard to lose the weight but it’s not easy and I can’t get into girls 10-11 jeans or trousers anymore.
After months or going to the gym and changing my body composition I don’t think I’ll ever fit into kids clothes again and don’t want to look underweight to manage it. My goal weight is 8 stone 7 with muscle.

Wearing normal clothes and altering them changes the fit and they don’t sit right as I’m sure anyone a similar size will agree. The only thing it fixes sometimes is sleeve length or a very long dress.

I have children’s size 13 feet and there are (very limited) places to buy smaller adult shoes but they are expensive and there isn’t much choice.
Again children’s shoes are often unsuitable because the small sizes have Velcro, it’s impossible to find a pair of heels and I can’t find a single pair of proper supportive running trainers.
I look like I have hooves in the small heeled adult shoes I’ve bought online but there are places to buy from and I do have some choices with kids shoes which doesn’t seem to be the case with clothing.

Over the years I’ve noticed on mumsnet on threads about clothing or that mentioned height that there are plenty of other women my height or similar who comment that they struggle to buy clothes, If there isn’t somewhere that sells them then I might seriously look at how worthwhile it would be to see if it’s a gap in the market that could be filled.

Until then I’d just love a pair of properly fitting bootcut jeans if anyone can help? I’m not rich or skilled enough to start trying to make all my clothes myself and dyspraxia meant the last attempt I made at sewing resulted in me sewing my sleeve to the dress I was trying to hem 🙄😆.

Cider is where I get a lot of my dds everyday clothes. She's just shy of 4'10 but has a size 8 waist, tiny on the ribs/shoulders, but massive boobs which makes things a million times more difficult. She loves cider for their often more flare leg jeans. She's just shy of 18 and really loves her M&S super/extra? short school trousers.

Can't think off the tip of my head where else she gets stuff from.

Oh not cider, it's pixie girl. She gets a 25" leg from there.

I feel your pain. I am 4'10". Also gained weight in perimenopause and gone from 6-8 in my early 40s to a 10-12 in my early 50s. Kids' clothes are definitely no longer an option.

In terms of extra petite clothing, the only brand I know of is Dewey and they really only sell jeans.

You need to follow the.petite.lady on Insta. She has so many good tips and even runs The Short Girls' Club which has extra help for extra petites like us. I recommend checking her out.

you might need to find a seamstress who can alter clothes. There are some high street ones who are reasonably priced and much better than DIY if you have no sewing skills.

How about Levi jeans? You can choose the leg length and waist size. If they’re not short enough, you could buy their cropped jeans?

I’m 5ft 2 but petite jeans and trousers are too short for me, so jeans are tricky! I get mine from Pull and Bear, who do petite jeans online (not in store). Their petite jeans are a few inches above my ankle, so they may work for you.

Uniglo will hem trousers for you for a fee, if you like uniglo clothes

Cotton traders do shorter length i have a pair of wide trousers i buy 27in and i am 4ft 11 and I manage to wear them without them drowning me !

I know this might not help entirely because the proportions of the trousers need to be correct for your height, and not just the length, but I discovered today that Uniqlo do free tailoring on trousers over £20.

Try pixie girl for jeans.

Both my DDs are 4'8"ish (whilst I'm a giant at 5'1"!) and the youngest has found success with M&S cropped kickflare jeans which are similar to bootlegs. The long length ones are just the right length for her.

I am 4ft 11 and have a 27 inch leg and bought some nice summer trousers in extra short in M&S (they do this length in addition to their petite length). They do a lot of jeans and trousers in this range but need to be ordered online and you will need to keep an eye out for the extra short option to be in stock.

Unfortunately I can’t help you with shoes as I am a large 4!

5’3.5 now I think. Don’t forget this includes older women.

I’m 4”11 and it’s only M&S extra short that work for me in trousers and jeans. It’s a nightmare as sleeves are always miles too long and shoulders never sit correctly.

I'm 4 ft 11 and size 18-20. It's really difficult. I do like Bon Marche which do a ?25 inch or whatever the shortest leg length is, in trousers and jeans.

Halara do an extra petite range too, might be worth trying. Their trousers are fantastic

I'm 5'3 but slightly too big for petite ranges, think it's my proportions rather than height.
I do buy Bon Marche work trousers though for a back elastic waist and a shorter leg.

In London and the South East the average is apparently 5 feet 4.2 inches, but in Scotland and the North east, the average is a little shorter, at 5 feet 3.7 to 3.8 inches.

I used to be 5 feet 0.5 inches. Now in my early 70s, I have shrunk and am just over 4 feet 11.

I don't mind too much having to take up the hems of trousers but it's not always possible to shorten the sleeves of jackets or shirts and blouses. You can sometimes unpick the cuff and re-attach it but then often the sleeve placket is too short. So I wear all my shirts with the cuffs rolled up.

M & S short length jeans used to be the right length for me, but now seem to measure longer. I keep jeans for years and haven't tried their extra short length yet.
