I bought a lovely one in sweaty Betty recently. But if you’re going to be walking 2 miles you probably need a longline coat and not a jacket. I feel like I saw a couple of nice Barbour ones, and I think the Felicia one in Hobbs looks nice.

I've had this coat nearly 5 years and it's still going strong. I walk the dogs, muck out and wear it when I'm working as a forest school leader. It's warm and completely waterproof.

Which shop is that parka from @johnworf as it’s a good price?

Do you have a budget? If you have a go outdoors, blacks, etc they do decent jackets. I have a Rab. Not cheap! Berghaus are good. I have a Peter Storm parka which I got in the black Friday sale a few years ago

I buy regatta coats from eBay and never spend much more than £10 on them. The last time I got one the seller told me she got the wrong size and didn't return it in time. Most probably similar bargains are on Vinted as well. Regatta are waterproof and windproof.

I think, if you’re walking to and from work you need a waterproof coat not a waterproof jacket .

You need to look at the waterproof rating. If you need it to be very waterproof then you need at least 10k waterproof preferably 20k.

Regatta have loads, up to a 30k waterproof as well. Definitely look for knee length, in my opinion not too thick so that you can layer without getting hot and sweaty.
