Best tummy control underwear?

I have a memo belly—my stomach was always flat, but it’s got flabby over the last few years and I suffer from terrible bloating by the evening. What’s the best tummy control underwear? I’ve looked at Spanx but they’re expensive. I would splash out if they’re the best available.

Do be careful. I bought a really expensive one which was agony but completely flattened my tummy. Then gradually over the course of the evening my ankles started swelling. They got bigger and bigger until I had to take my shoes off. It was so embarrasing.the fluid has to go somewhere.
I have some stuff from shapermint that is pretty good and amazon does loads of unbranded ones.

@Gettingbysomehow many thanks. That’s a good point. I’ve tried m and s shape wear before, but the waist band has always shifted down and were a waste of money.

How much are we talking? I find sloggi control knickers great. They are normal knickers with a small control panel to keep things smooth. They're not as extensive as spanx etc.

I ordered some Next gentle shapewear for a wedding I went to yesterday - i wanted to avoid the agony of wearing what feels like a steel suit of armour, hence the ‘gentle’. Big mistake - they made absolutely no difference at all. I should maybe have bought them in a ‘firm’ version, or gone down a size. And i can’t even send them back, as i had to try them on.
I guess the one consolation is that no fluid got squashed down to my feet…poor you, op!!

Sorry I meant how much, erm, flab, are we talking? A bit of control or are we trying to hold back the hoover dam of belly?
