I bought the ASOS one today using code HEYAPP on the app and got 20% off so only Β£78 which I thought was a bargain!

juicyjellybaby · 07/09/2026 21:06

@Nomorechocs i also bought the asos one with the discount code but I am now thinking of returning it as i think my 13 year old might be a bit young for it but i cant see anymore she might like

Has anyone else noticed the distinct lack of Drunk Elephant products in the advent this year? It felt like you couldn’t move for them a few years ago. What happened? Have they gone out of business or are the calendars being wary that everyone’s already got a stash?

I reckon some brands might just have said that they were no longer willing to sell themselves for pennies. I've noticed that Clarins is never (or rarely) included in BAC's for example.

It also goes to show that the likes of PK must have huge mark ups. I guess if we like that brand, then it may sway us, but my llist of DoD's is getting longer as the years go by.

E.G. CT is everywhere. Freebies in magazines, and in all the BAC's. Eventually, nobody will buy and the brand will die a death (it's overpriced and associated with teens now anyway)

Lancome, Chanel, Dior, Clinique and Clarins (as previously mentioned) along with the likes of Origins and other mid to high range 'big names' will likely survive and always have their loyal core customer base.

It also cheapens fragrances like Thameen to me as that's everywhere, too.

It's a balancing act for them cos - brand awareness -but if they overdo it it cheapens the brand. Byredo was everywhere a few years ago, definitely in a few advent calendars in 2024 as that's what got me in to them - but they pulled out and you don't see them anymore. I guess they thought they had enough brand awareness.

I also purchased it for my 13 year old. ChatGPT has told me which items to take out and keep for myself. I’ll top up the empty drawers with other bits. Seems a lot of it is ok for a 13 year old.

FOBIthefearobeingincluded · 07/09/2026 21:21

I’ve managed to buy the nail care, Tatcha, SDJ, Mirror Water brush and the Color Wow from the Selfridges calendar for Β£30 + postage on Vinted. Very pleased with this purchase ☺️

JoRaRaRa · 07/09/2026 21:33

I'll call Brown Thomas tomorrow and check that we can send to Parcel Flow. The guy at PF said that they deal with a lot of parcels from BT so I think we can do it. And the BT website allows you to have an international address even though they don't ship internationally which I'm taking as a good sign, but I will check tomorrow. I didn't get chance to speak to PF today, but I'll phone them tomorrow too.

HolaLolla · 07/09/2026 21:45

The attached was posted on one of my perfume groups, not sure how true it is, but worth keeping an eye.
And just to say re BT calendar, if the forwarding service does not work out, I would be happy to forward a few calendars as I am in NI.

I don’t think I’ve actually seen an advent calendar this year that doesn’t have CT in it. You’re right though. Don’t judge me for my tv choices but she was on Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts with the Dallas cheerleaders and it was some of the most awkward marketing I’ve seen. It’s a shame as a few years back I would have been delighted to receive her products. Now they’re on the meh pile.

As an aside I think I might be the only human out there (well, maybe on this thread) that actually doesn’t mind PK Elastisisor. The problem with it is that I need to leave it on for hours and I just don’t have the time but back when I used it regularly it worked wonders on my hair.

Ohhh mannn! I'm hoping to be away on 25th sept not glued to my phone. Although it would be good if I weren't trying to buy sfac and BT on the same day 🀣

Thank you, we may need your services and NI address 🀣

I literally used the elasticiser today 😬

Definitely not as popular as they used to be. I like them, but not the tiny sizes. Lala retro moisturiser is the best thing they do.

I have a 13 year old and think mine is too young for it. She has a simple facial skincare routine which works and I don’t really want to encourage her to start using too many products yet. Last year I got her a beauty one from Boots (Boots branded) that had things like mini shower gels, face masks, body creams and the odd item of make up. She was thrilled with it, but doesn’t have social media yet, which might have helped.

Definitely no judgement, it's great escapism! But I agree, was so awkward. Especially when some of the makeovers made them look awful.

SunnyPinkMoose · 07/09/2026 22:47

Drunk elephant had a bit of a marketing problem as they were seen to market to teens . They are owned by shissido so I still rate them but apparently viewed as over priced . I really like the peptides cream ( whipped)

JoRaRaRa · 07/09/2026 23:04

@Itsablondebobkindaday I enjoy a bit of Americas sweethearts, it just easy to watch TV. They all do their make up and hair so well 😍 I used to like selling sunset but then it just became all about arguments and drama so I really went off it.

XelaM · 07/09/2026 23:33

Those who bought the ASOS calendar - how does it compare to their 2025 product selection, as my daughter had the 2025 one and I don't want to buy if if the products are mainly the same as last year. Very tempted at that price though.

clary · 07/09/2026 23:37

Well my JLP calendar has arrived (very small and square ) – with a damaged box! grrrrrr bc I sell the boxes and this one is not sellable; one corner is somewhat damaged and another is badly bashed. I have emailed JLP but I'm blowed if I am going to take this one anywhere for. swap.

MiaN · 08/09/2026 06:24

Protini and slai cleanser too.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/09/2026 07:51

Was thinking about getting SNK today but on second thoughts, not tempted. Think I have AC fatigue! Only really want the debaser in bloom which I can pick up off vinted.

JoRaRaRa · 08/09/2026 07:53

So both Spacenk and Sephora get released today. Is anyone planning on picking up both?

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 08/09/2026 07:56

Thelifeofawife · 07/09/2026 16:24

It’s worth it for the value, if you’re good at selling off what you don’t want.

But if you’re not going to go for it, I have a Phlur cherry stem that you can have, I’ve only used it twice, it doesn’t suit me unfortunately.
I might have the nail polish as well, I’d have to double check my ridiculous stash.

For the SDJ delicia, this is my favourite shower gel at the moment, it smells lovely and I’ve RP many times. I buy it from LF when they have the double discounts on, so worth keeping an eye out there.

I decided against Selfridges, I think it was mainly the Lola at coat check that was tempting me, and I do have a small bottle of that already (amongst many other fragrances)

I was thinking about this last night. Would you be interested in a perfume swap? My, I don’t know how to say in English (I am English, just really tired), nose palette? Isn’t very sophisticated so I imagine some of the fragrances in the Harrods, F&M, Cult Beauty and Elle BACs may be too good for my nose to enjoy. I really didn’t like the Fugazzi in the CB for example, but luckily got a sample of it so the bottle is unopened and still in the BAC.
