How to freshen dull highlighted blonde hair before my next appointment

My hair is bleached with highlights. The colour is going a bit dull and brassy and I've a few things coming up so I'd like to look my best. Can't get an appointment for highlights that works for me for another 3 weeks. In the meantime I'm wondering if it would help to use a "purple" shampoo, Color Wow dream filter or L'Oreal Metal Detox or a mix of things? I don't have a platinum or ash look to my hair it's more a light golden blonde.

If anyone knows about this sort of thing, what would you recommend?!

I use the Wella colour touch plus mixed with the associated emulsion. It’s what the professionals use. A semi-permanent gloss. Find out what you need from the hairdresser and use as in between appointments?

Actually, now that I know what to do, I colour my own (brunette) hair at home with the professional stuff.

I use a good quality purple shampoo. Put in on dry hair for 5 mins, then wash as normal. It removes all of the brassiness.

Purple shampoo will bring it up nicely. You don’t need to buy an expensive one, just one from your local supermarket. Leave it on for a 2-3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, condition and then use: L’Oréal Paris Elvive Glycolic Gloss 5 Minute Lamination Treatment for Dull Hair also from supermarket.

Not a hairdresser but worked in professional hair care for over a decade.

I'm not sure this would work on bleached hair but sounds like you've got it sussed for your own lovely brunette locks 😊

Not suggesting this doesn’t work for the previous poster, but purple shampoo should be put on wet hair, shampoo as you usually would but leave it in the hair for 2-3 minutes. You will run the risk of too much colour depositing and it looking very ashy or even a little purple.

Can you get an appointment that suits for just a toner?

The brand Fudge, purple shampoo and conditioner is brilliant.

I'm going to go against the grain and say purple shampoo can be best dryiing and makes your hair dull.
Try a clarifying shampoo and shampoo twice ... It will get rid of the build up and hopefully make your hair shine again

Yes purple shampoo. I use Fudge as recommended by my hairdressers. I used it yesterday after a holiday as my highlights were looking really yellow, it’s worked really well and they’ve gone back to their original more subtle colours.

I put it on wet hair, lather and leave for 5+ minutes before rinsing and conditioning. It doesn’t lather well and I need to use quite a lot. Not found it drying or dulling at all.

I use Lee Stafford Bleach Blonde shampoo. Just checked it's 9.50 at Boots but cheaper elsewhere. You only need the tiniest bit and I sometimes mix it with other shampoo in my hand before using it. I box dye my hair myself and it knocks out the brassiness. The cheaper ones I find very drying.
