I’ve already shared my SFAC fail on the advent thread so won’t repeat here. Have been working from 2 supplier offices on either side of Oxford Circus today so was slightly tempted to pop down in person but decided it wasn’t worth the scrum or the likely disappointment.
A fire alarm this morning gave me an unexpected 40
mins to check a few more things out at Libertys, and I was so much more organised this time - I knew where I was going AND I had all my BAC & FAC lists with me.
Noted as follows (although was a total whizz around!):
Killian Love don’t be shy too sweet on the dry down (but liked the Angels Share on the rocks & got a sample); FM Carnal Flower not for me. Liked the Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman EDP much more than first time around (regret selling the liberty bac Extrait but does mean I will def keep the BT 50ml EDP),will sell MP Crystal Saffron, a hard no to Bibbi Vanilla but surprised by Swimming Pool. Will have to go back and try that again on skin. And surprised by Sisley Eau de Soir which I had assumed wasn’t for me. Have a sample of that to try too. Fugazzi Angel Dust sample bottle annoyingly was in the process of being replaced so will have to do that another time.
Also had 45 mins lunch break so went via JL store. Gosh, what a dispiriting experience! It’s such a shame, because i love JL and have been a loyal customer for most of my
life, but the Oxford Circus “flagship” store experience is utterly dire. The high end perfume brands (like MFK) do try to create a more premium experience in their little corners, but they’ve got expensive products like P d Marley & Maison Crivelli heaped up on little stands alongside Floral Street etc. It’s all a bit of a mish mash and none of the staff have much clue about any of it.
Even worse, when I asked about several perfumes that are in the JL FAC, they told me to go to Selfridges, Liberty or HN!
Seriously, why would JL put things in their FAC (esp the Nishane which is fs) that you can’t actually try in store?
Anyway, rant over. I couldn’t try the Sirene (& forgot it was the privee I wanted to try) because all the sample bottles have been nicked, but they did give me 2 actual samples. And I did check out a couple more MC and
MFK scents, as well as the Essential Perfume Fragrance du Bois (not sure, inoffensive) and the M Margiela fireplace (hard no for me).
Surprise find (although def not buying for time being) was MFK Amyris Homme. Absolutely delicious! I need to go back and investigate that one again.
