Shiny new thread just in time for the new season - I'm thinking smoky, spicy gourmands as we head through autumn.

Old thread here

No worries! There is lots of choice but also it was/is split over 2 floors.

my SOTd is BDK Gris charnel😁. First outing in a while, know a few fans here and it’s in an advent I think. Love it.

Liberty was mixed bag for me too, but that's ok and to be expected for the price

I loved both Maze and Adelphi sun (I purchased maze online) with the Adelphi sun having potential to be a full bottle at some point.
Citric is nice for the summer
Mango Skin too
And then Ex Nihilo Lust in Paradise extrait
I am going away for a week and I am taking the above - great variety for the summer.

Fabbrica Della Musa Pearl of Dawn Extrait de Parfum is more winter vibe to me, I am going to enjoy testing it later

I sold valaya, very cheaply - but still it wasn't waste
Swapped Bibbi Lotus
Vyrao Ludeaux Eau de Parfum 10ml - straight in the bin
Abel Double Scoop Eau de Parfum 6ml - bathroom scent, I find vanilla challenging
MATIERE PREMIERE Metal Lavender - my son took this
Escentric Molecules Cologne One - my son

So while it was mixed bag, considering the cost of what I kept it was still a good deal.

I was brutal yesterday - Debaser, Coriander, 2* Pistachio - not biggest D&S and durga fan. Some I actually liked like The Merchant Of Venice Queen Of The Night, Penhaligons Babylon - great, but I have something I like much better, couple of Escada perfumes, my beloved Zara Pamplemousses and Vetiver (I have way too many citruses), jo malone frangipani flower - stupid blind buy, last year jo malone Christmas edition - a lot like Gris Charnel but not as nice, Nest Indigo - tested one, same as above, couple of memo minis. It was all go - in bags and send to good homes. From the garden - replica travel. Actually I gave some to my son too. A lot are good, but I have something I enjoy more that serves the same mood

And it relief not trying to use them up or to like them or to make myself try to like them.

I’ve layered Lannosea and MP Vanilla Powder again. I really love this combination!

I’m going away this weekend and need to decide what to take…I want maybe one or two, no more. Something chic, smart and delicious!

I changed my mind about Killian Pina Paraiso. It's very intense and unpleasent. I sniffed the rose from this version - it's bubbly and sweet rose. I rate that 2nd, the espresso 1st. the pina is for the bina :)

others may have better luck

I have forgotten how much I love Velvet Aura by Rituals. Such a shame it was limited edition.

I hope they will bring it back with time as they sometimes do.

Was lucky enough to get a bottle on Vinted as i caught on too late when it was already sold out. I bought the fragrance sticks as well. Love love love it. Saving it up for this winter.

What do you rhink of the new lmtd edition?

Sadly two things happened that messed up my scent sniffing plans: my meeting ran very late (this was the biggest issue) and the theatre started earlier than I’d expected (6.30pm) with no interval and no late entry. Although with seats slap bang in the middle of the front row of the circle, I don’t think there was any way to access them if we hadn’t been there in time anyway!

Oh, and I completely forgot about the majority of fragrances being in the basement for the first 15 minutes 🙈🙈🙈

What I learnt: it’s a hard no for me on WP Mango Skin (not in any of my advents but I was curious) but I really liked Dear Lord and want to try it on my skin next time. D&S Debaser does indeed have those green fig notes, again, curious to try but no sample available. I do have debaser in bloom as a sample at home, so will check that out soon. Ex Nihilo from Liberty advent this year - probably not for me. I thought the Vyrao 11 would be a hard no as I’m really not a fruity scent person, but actually it made my nose twitch in a curious way. I have a sample to try, so will give it a go before closing that door. Same for Tana Meadow : I don’t think it’s one I’ll keep, but I’ll try the sample I was given before deciding.

Also checked out the Lisa Eldridge & Violette lip balms from this years advent. Sadly neither quite right for me, which is a shame.

Hoping to get back next week with more time to work through the rest of my huge list from Liberty BAC and JL FAC, along with things I’m super curious about from these boards!

Lurkingshark I tried Petrichor today and it’s more or less a watered down version of the original frankincense scent with none of the staying power or projection 😕 I think they’ve really shot themselves in the foot there, no one will buy this at double the price of the original if you can’t smell it for more than five minutes.

I also tried some Jorum frags at their Marylebone shop. Very lovely service but this brand is not for me, I can’t cope with iso e super as a major
component and both of the scents I tried (Firewater and maybe Fantosmia) dried down sweet and headachey. Firewater opens with a very smoky campfire which I love, it’s one to try if you like smoke.

My son got me few things from the collection for my birthday, so I will have stronger opinion on few weeks. That's how I discovered it last year! I like it, but instant love bit I need some more time. I have the body butter so that's could be little different then the perfume. However knowing how much I love the last year, it's hard not to be disappointed they didn't bring it back.

@JoRaRaRa
Le Labo Thé Noir 29; I really don't like the tiny dabber sample of this because it's so fiddly and teeny tiny

I managed to pour this all over myself and the bed linen because I couldn't get any out and then it suddenly came in a big gush. Terrible sample tubes (but nice perfume.)

HolidayHattie · Today 10:21

@MiaN
The Merchant Of Venice Queen Of The Night, Penhaligons Babylon - great, but I have something I like much better

Ooh, what is that? Queen of the Night is on my wishlist and I like Babylon, so I'd love to know what you consider to be better than those.

IDontHateRainbows · Today 10:45

mango skin today - I still have a cold and my sense of smell not as it was which is when I usually feel attracted to strong and citrus forward scents and go off the heavy gourmands. Mango Skin a bit softer than a lemony citrus but still has that zingy feel. Suprise win from the liberty bag which I really enjoyed. Hoping they bring another one out soon. Wish liberty would do a fragvent/ 12 days of scent type thing.

Xerjoff Starlight is masterpiece. So is Eight and Bob Belvedere. I also have g
Ginger Biscuit Jo Malone- not as good but same category.

I would still say queen of the night and babylon are great. I am just over them
