How do I use a serum?

I am new to the world of facial serums (sera?) having purchased a Garnier one to try and eliminate brown sun spots. It smells unpleasantly metallic which none of the reviews warned me about, but more importantly how do I use it? Instructions are to apply 4 drops. I can't see what constitutes 4 drops without my specs on and left to their own devices they just run down my face. Do I rub them in? With what? Cotton wool soaks it up and I'm reluctant to use fingers because of the aforementioned smell. Just apply to the affected areas? Lie down until it sinks in? Help!

I don’t use the Garnier ones but I do use a Nip + Fab one and I just put 4 drops on my hands, rub it in and then wash my hands so I don’t run it into my eyes.

A garnier serum is not going to remove or hide sun spots. Is this an influencer or brand post?

Elizabeth Arden do a range of ceramide capsules and one will do for your face and neck. They are not cheap, but they are fabulous. You use them after cleansing your face and before moisturising or night cream.

I just put some on my hands and rub it into my face. I see no difference in dripping it on my cheek and rubbing it in with my fingers or dripping it on my fingers then rubbing it onto my face. I’m blind as a bat without my glasses and would need to be nose to mirror to make sure the drop wasnt just falling onto the floor.

You apply it the same as moisturiser, put it on your hands and rub in. It comes with a dropper so gently squeeze the suggested amount with that, but don't worry about being too precise. More importantly, life is too short to use something you hate the smell of. You can wash it off your hands, but it's going to be on your face, so I'd cut my losses and ditch it.
( @Tortephant I doubt an influencer would be saying how bad it smells!)
