Do DMs soften up?

I have my eye on a pair of Chelsea boot Dr. Martens. However whenever I try them on they seem rock hard 😱

The sales assistants say they’ll soften up with oil.

Anyone can give me feedback on softening them up pls.

I wore DMs when I was younger. I now believe life is too short to break in footwear!
They will soften but you'll have weeks even months of pain.
Check out Rieker for similar but comfy straight from the box.

My Dear Mother is still hard as nails but I live in hope.

I wear DM’s. For me it generally takes around a week until they’re comfortable.

I bought mine second hand from vinted. Someone else went through the pain and I wear mine every day in the winter.

I tried DM sandals on the assistant's assurance that they would soften up.
Pure torture. Never softened up. Waste of money.

I have super chunky dm, I dont wear them too often,but find a thick pair of socks stop the rubbing.

Got fur lined ones. Softer and comfy.

I bought second hand and they still give me blisters.

Bought some for Dd and she never managed to wear them in. I’ve since read they are manufactured differently and in a different place to before, and are considered harder and less comfortable. Just sold hers on vinted and she’s looking at Solovair instead

It takes a while but once it’s done they’re great. I refuse to wear hiking boots but live a very outdoorsy lifestyle, I just wear my DMs. Went on a rainy dog walk this morning (3+ hours) and my friend had hiking boots on and wet/sore feet, I was perfectly dry and comfy.

They mould to your feet in a week or so (of mild suffering) and then they are the comfiest boots/shoes ever.

I didn't get on with DM chelsea boots but my Solovairs were comfortable after a few wears. They were 'as new' from ebay (and very good value for money). I love them. Solovair Dealer Boots. They do half-sizes and are generous. I wear a half size smaller than my usual size.
