Jeans for the short and curvy which don’t gape at the waist - does such a thing exist

Has anyone found such a thing? If they fit my tummy and thighs then they gape round the waist so much I could fit a small child in there with me and either have to wear a belt (adding extra lumpiness to an already lumpy area) or spend the whole day hitching them up. Happy to pay decent money for just ONE pair which fits me (although obviously would rather not pay £££). Am a size 16.

Ages ago This Morning showed jeans from New Look that were suitable for shorter women and my friend went to the shop and bought a pair. I will wait and see other recommendations.

Not Your Daughter's Jeans are good and come in different lengths. They're expensive so I buy on eBay or Vinted.

One of my DDs (mid 20s) has this problem. She takes her jeans to get them altered.

She did find one specific style and aize of Levi's shorts that fit her perfectly. It's possible Levi's jeans might work for her too, or for you.

So much disappointing trying on though.

Curvy jeans exist! I like abercrombie curve love (also Hollister curvy) and everlane curvy jeans. I also find Levi's 501 and ribcage with higher cotton content have minimal gaping on me.

Edit to add that they all have shorter leg lengths too.

Buy jeans that fit perfectly on your thighs, that look good on your bum, and then get the waist tailored. It's a simple fix which makes them fit perfectly to you.
I have so many clothes tailored. It makes such a difference.

Halara, but I buy on Vinted because their Ads drive me mad.

Have a look at Dewey jeans. Made for petites and have an elasticated back to avoid gaps.

I have some fat face which fit my fat gut and waist perfectly. I am also loving Halara that seem to fit perfectly!

Thanks so much everyone - I had no idea you could get jeans adjusted so if none of the suggested brands work then I will definitely do that!

Levi's cinch is what you need.

I have the wide leg ones and they are the best jeans I have ever worn. You can adjust the waist with the side poppers.

Third vote for Halara. Huge range of colours, sizes, lengths, styles. If you post your stats, someone can probably advise what size to order.

I am small of waist with sizeable hips - Next jeans in Hourglass fit have been a revelation for me. I size down so they fit on my waist, but they have extra room in the thighs and hips so fit perfectly with no belt needed

I have always had large thighs and curvy bum thanks to genes, but now also do heavy weights so not helping myself! I remember well the upset of trying to find jeans that would go over my apparently giant thighs and go more than halfway up my enormous arse in the 2000s - felt so fat when I really wasn’t, just a curvy 8-10. I remember whinging to my skinny flatmate and her pointing out that it wasn’t my thighs or arse that were the problem but my evidently far too slim waist. She is still a good friend 😂 I got a few pairs in Gap but mostly relied on belts and did some DIY tailoring - I remember being shocked at how much difference a pretty badly-sewn V in the waist at the back made to the fit!

Nowadays I think there is so much more choice and many better fits and styles, but that does mean putting time into trying on. I’ve found high waist barrel leg jeans work well for me, just from Tu or Tesco or M&S, nothing expensive. The extra material on the thigh is exactly what I’ve always needed, and a high waist minimises the gape above my bum. I’m 5’3” with a 28-29” leg I think.

Update! I tried the video @waitingforlifeonmars posted and it worked! It was on an old pair of jeans I love but spend my life hitching up - seems to have fixed the problem! I only tried them on after sewing so will put them to a proper test wearing them for the day but it definitely seemed better and didn’t give a ‘ruffled’ sort of elasticated effect at the back which I was worried about. So thank you @waitingforlifeonmars!! BTW I do have a sewing machine but am absolutely no seamstress so skill level required is low.

My 5ft big hipped small waisted kiddo always finds Hollister works! Expensive but they wash & wear well

Do you have a very small waist Op? I’m short and don’t have this problem at size 10-12 and I didn’t have it at size 16+ either.

I only had this gaping waistline when I was in my 20s and a size 6-8 and I think it was because I had a small waist and big butt.
