Are acrylic nails suitable for teens?

My DD’s are 14 and 16 and are wanting acrylic nails for my upcoming wedding. I have been putting them off thinking they would forget about it but they now are adamant they want them. I am not a nail person, but having now looked into it I’m concerned as they have eczema and there seem to be risks of contact dermatitis etc. Also I just think it’s unnecessary! I’d be interested in other people’s thoughts?

Just let them get their nails done lol

Think they have to be 16 so the older one can. Would they not compromise with you and get gel nails?

No, say no

They are tacky, ugly and unhygienic

Well I agree they are not my thing, hence asking here! Are gel nails better? I thought they weren’t great because of UV lamps etc.
I’d rather take them somewhere for a big standard nail file and nail polish so they feel like they are getting the experience, but everywhere now seems to offer all the fancy stuff that seems hard to find!!

A beauty salon rather than a nail bar will be most likely to do a normal manicure with normal polish.
