What makes you keep going back to the same shop?

I seem to have a couple of shops I automatically check first, mostly because I know the sizing and usually find something I like. It made me wonder what makes other people loyal to a particular shop is it the quality, fit, price, or just knowing you’ll usually find something that works?

The collection, the style, the quality of the fabric, the right fit especially for trousers.

What they sell and the price point.
For example - Zara - I know I would almost always find something I like, and pricing is within budget, so often its the first call.
Biggest issue is sizing availability after that.
Service wise, I don't consider really for this shop - i find , try on, buy or don't.

Essentially, the main reason I return to any shop or store is because I know/like what they sell. The rest comes after IMHO.

The quality, the style and the fit. It’s me + em, first and fore most , it feels like their clothes were made for my body , they always fit absolutely perfectly, leg length, arm length and where the waist sits. I love that a lot of their styles are quite paired down and elegant, However sometimes they go a bit extreme in their styles, like trousers too wide, but generally I can always find something I love.

second to that is Reiss, but the quality can be hit or miss now and it’s not even close to the first, it’s no where near as good as it was.

i also really like farm Rio, but thats more for colourful holiday clothes.

but yes for me, its the quality of the garment, the style , which fits my aesthetic and the fit.

I go to shops that I know stock various sizes and different leg length. Helpful staff is an added bonus without a doubt.

i know what suits me, so i tend to stick to shops where i know i will find something - style, suits by body shape, materials etc.

There are a couple of independent boutiques i go to - one, i buy loads from and the other has lovely stuff, but the clothes just don’t suit me, so i rarely buy from there.

Innovation and ambition in design, craft, silhouette. (Which usually means making an effort to be environmentally and ethically responsible.)

I lose interest if a brand starts watering down its design impetus to appeal to a wider range of shoppers. Which almost inevitably happens eventually if they need to survive. So I’m always having to look for new places.

My out and out favourite at the moment is Me+Em, 70% of my wardrobe is from there. Obviously not everything suits me, nor do I like everything. Trousers generally need to be shortened but I’m fine with that. Love their jeans, a lot of their trousers but some are just too wide legged for me. Adore their shirts. Love their blouses. Have a few dresses a few skirts. Have a few pieces of knitwear. What I particularly love is that everything seems to work with existing pieces. A shirt from today will look great with trousers from two years ago type thing. The colours are perfect for mix and match. Quality is great, mostly, sometimes I feel it is slipping a little but overall it’s great. I love how their garment measurements online is spot on. I know the fit.

I know their prices fit in with my budget.

Brora. The quality of the cashmere. Wool, cotton and silk is amazing. The colour palette tends to suit me and the styles are timeless but not frumpy. They do an amazing sale twice a year.

Availability of my size and use of natural fabrics. I’m a size 18-20 so wouldn’t bother with eg Zara, although tbh there was little to fit me in there when I was a 14-16.
Other than that, I will consider almost anywhere, though price would be a factor: I wouldn’t look at somewhere charging £200+ for a dress unless they do good sales . But I do have quite eclectic taste and am happy to try a variety of styles.

Knowing how they fit and some of their typical silhouettes. How much of their range is natural fabrics. Being able to search by fabric.

I have wide shoulders, I know M&S cut their tshirts in a way they fit for example. Hobbs (but have to check fabric) and Boden (sales or discounts) if I size up. Hush but I prefer to see their stuff in person.

Places like Mango and Zara are really hit and miss for me.

I don't - I gave ChatGPT over 50 UK brands and, from photos of me, it agreed that none of them really fit my style exclusively so I have to shop around. I'd love to have a go to shop. Mango is probably closest because I like the fact they aren't too old or too young (I'm 50).

Design of clothes, sizing that I know suits my body, quality of fabric. In some shops, I know the dresses will fit my body shape but the trousers will not fit my body shape, and likewise, some shops are good for me for trousers but not tops.

I really like the look of clothes of some shops, but they obviously are not cut for my particular body shape. I have to steer myself away from the clothes from some shops, because my body shape just will not work with their clothes, no matter how much I love their clothing.

Lack of other options. I find Zara's quality pretty bad these days, but still buy clothes there because I can't find what I want elsewhere.

Convenience. Sad but true. I shop wherever is on the way home from work / wherever delivers to somewhere on teh way home. Job changes = different wardrobe

It'd be nice to choose a shop because the items fitted me best. However I have to go for the cheapest so charity shops and Primark it is!
Yes I know other stuff lasts longer but I often can't afford the initial outlay plus possibly wasting money on clothes that after a wear or two don't fit as they should.
Trousers in particular are awful but need them for work as it's quite physical and there are very few that stay up properly without being too tight around the waist.
