Coat help

Help?
I need a winter coat. No puffers I have a very cold weather coat but need something around mid thigh I can just sling on and go with not too much bulk or flappy bits and no belts.
I mostly wear jeans so I dont need a long coat.
Im thinking car coat/short trench or something interesting.
There is so much out there I just cant work out what to get.
Max £150 but would consider Sainsburys if they had anything suitable.
Needs to be shower proof as I live in the sticks.
I dont know whats in or out in the coat world.
Wouls appreciate any suggestions.
It doesnt ever get really cold in Somerset but it does rain a lot normally.

Im thinking something like this but not sure I like this one. Id rather wear more clothes underneath than a very thick coat.

If you want waterproof I recommend Regatta. I get mine from eBay. If you are just wanting a warm coat then my suggestion is a charity shop. You might want to get new so fair enough.

They also have a nice collab with Orla Kiely and this for example is massively reduced (it's summer weight but gives you an idea). I've got this, a spring/autumn jacket and an insulated winter raincoat (the "puffer" is on the inside so the outside is smooth and appears less bulky).
