Drop waist dresses can get in the sea

Surely that’s enough already? Does anyone actually like them? Every time I see a nice summer dress - proportions all wonky. WHY.

I didn’t say ‘vile’.

These barely look drop waisted and all look lovely. But fwiw I also like drop waisted - I'm long in the torso and no waist.

What can get in the sea(!) and fortunately appears to be slowly heading that way, is low-waisted jeans - just the most uncomfortable things ever.

My favourite dress of all time was a drop-waisted one from Laura Ashley. It looked great and was brilliant for a wedding and a christening.
I also had a sleeveless, cream drop-waisted one, which I wore on a very hot day to play croquet. Those were the days!

I have 2 sleeveless, black summer dresses. One has a drop waist, the other has a higher waist. The drop waist looks much more flattering, despite my excess weight, esp with a blazer, for work. The other one makes me look like a ship in full sail but has a nice thick material top which hides my nipples so I can wear it bra less in a heatwave, so will be prised from my cold, dead hands!

I've noticed that dropped waist wedding dresses seem to be having a moment. Reminiscent of late 80s/early 90s wedding dresses.

Hard agree with the OP, they make me look like a rectangle and I actually do have a waist in normal clothes. I tried a load of skirts for holidays and they all had drop waists so just accentuated the naturally widest part of the body- hips and bum. Not good at all!
