Drop waist dresses can get in the sea

Surely that’s enough already? Does anyone actually like them? Every time I see a nice summer dress - proportions all wonky. WHY.

They suit me. Massive boobs and a short torso are balanced out far better with this cut

Presumably I also possess the wonky proportions!

suburburban · Yesterday 20:57

They are normal waist on me, prefer them

Herenowatbroad · Yesterday 20:57

I like them. I’m tall and a bit too skinny (ie a bit gaunt looking) but these make me feel feminine and floaty

mysticbob · Yesterday 20:58

I hate them with a fiery passion. Awful.

totalnamechanger · Yesterday 21:02

I read that as you looking for dropped waist dresses that you can wear in the sea. There I was thinking ‘is this a thing?!’ Nothing really surprises me after intentional wedgies and showing the bottom half of your arse.

Gettingbysomehow · Yesterday 21:13

They look lovely on a lot of people. Awful on me. Guess it depends on your shape.

WindsorGreatPark · Yesterday 21:15

These were a thing when I was 13. Particularly Laura Ashley ones. Dreadful.

Namechangee11 · Yesterday 21:15

They were vile the first time round and looked awful on most people then and time has not improved them.

Venusunbroken · Yesterday 21:16

I’m quite tall and slim with long legs, short torso, they work for me, I look like some sort of middle aged fairy in all likely hood, but they are airy, flattering, and feminine,

Interesting - I really don’t think I have ever seen one on anyone that I didn’t think would look better with a normal waist.

Awful things!

Shloopie · Yesterday 21:20

Haaate them. They need to piss off. Along with tiered skirts and puffed sleeves.

That's not too much to ask.

friedaklein · Yesterday 21:24

They make me look pregnant.
So many awful trends in dresses that can get into the sea.
Puff sleeves
Tiers
Choking high necks on everything
Frills on sleeves
Milkmaid dresses.

Can you tell I am pissed off?

dudsville · Yesterday 21:25

They are going to suit some bodies, but not mine. My natural waist line is a little high, and I'm exactly 50/50 torso to leg. It would have to be very fitted in the bodice so that the skirt flared out in order to look nice on me, but I would find that just as constricting as the looser version is uncomfortable for having dreams in the "wrong" place. Are they having a moment? I haven't seen them in the wild since the 80s.

BoarBrush · Yesterday 21:27

So can fucking high waist trousers.

friedaklein · Yesterday 21:30

Oh, I love high waisted trousers.

Agree on ALL of these. And also love high waisted trousers.

I have a long body so most dress waistlines sit far too high up for me. Drop waists sit closer to my actual waist and usually look like a normal dress

Hayleylulljah · Yesterday 22:04

I love them. Normal ones look dreadful on me. I think they’re so much more flattering on most people.

calflions · Yesterday 22:06

I am all spherical like an apple but with lovely, unmerited long thin legs so a loose drop waisted tiered dress is the only way I can look slim.

Obviously aside from eating better and exercising, that would be madness.

This is exactly.my body. Typical apple, long thin limbs. So why do I look terrible in drop waists? I need a defined waist. Like a shirt or wrap dress.
It is a mystery.

Me too!

CeeJay81 · Yesterday 22:26

Terrible on me cause i'm short with a big bum. So drop waist dresses wouldn't fit properly. Same reason I need high waist trousers. Anything low rise doesn't cover my bum.

Picklesocks · Yesterday 22:31

I’m a bit dense about fashion terminology, could someone share an example? I haven’t particularly noticed this as a trend this year so maybe I’m thinking of the wrong thing…

DitheringOverDilemmas · Yesterday 22:33

Dropped waists are a gift to the big of boob - I love them. And find them very flattering.
