I bought these black penny loafers during the loafer craze. They are just so comfortable but Ive never worn them.
I was thinking french woman chic at the time with the help of youtube and I really want to keep them but how on earth do I style them for winter.
I am giving orthopaedic footwear vibes more than chic. Im 64 so Im not wearing them with a mini skirt 😂

I like loafers and jeans. What is missing for you? Do the jeans need to be shorter to show more ankle?

I dont know what it is. They look a bit like the orthopaedic shoes we make at the hospital. I think your're right I need to show more ankle I'll give it a go with socks.

They look good! They don't look orthopedic. I struggle with black shoes though. What should look chic, always seems to look too functional/practical on me. I'm struggling to find the right words as I don't want to give you the wrong impression of your shoe, which is very nice, but it's the reason I would struggle. To help your eye adjust, have you googled images of how others have worn it? Then maybe just wear it constantly for a few weeks until your eye adjusts?

I find that if I have an item of clothing I keep coming back to, but never actually wear, I probably just need to get rid of it because it's not really me.

Having said that, I don't really like loafers, but they are practical for work, so i wear them with ankle grazer or rolled up trousers. Even though that makes me feel a bit miami vice.

My flat shoe of choice is the mighty hamble oak, but they don't seem to make them anymore. At least, not interesting ones.

They’re lovely, but you do need to have trendier jeans and bright ankle socks with them. No straight or carrot jeans.

They have new hamble oaks on ebay on a regular basis. I regularly shop for discontinued Clarks on there as I have wide feet. Some sellers buy up all the end of range shoes and sell them cheaper.

I bought some very shiny loafer pennies for them. I was surprised that was a thing. They look better with a bit of bling on them.

They’re fine. You just need black socks and a longish midi kilt in any winter colour.

Just my opinion, but loafers look more Greek Grandpa Chic than French Woman Chic...

I actually think a skirt is the only thing you could wear that would make them remotely feminine or okay-looking. Just a little bit.

I tried them on with Baukjen kickflare long leggings earlier and a longish top to balance it all and I thought they looked better.
Like a mini but Ill keep my ageing legs covered 😃
