I’ve used Waterman’s shampoo and conditioner following hair thinning due to medication. I think they may have helped.

Pumpkin seed oil with saw palmetto might help

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 09/08/2026 21:37

I take a pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto supplement, and they do seem to significantly cut down on my shedding.

And thanks both as well!

I had thinning hair, menopause and mounjaro to thank for that. Have been taking biotin supplements for a few months and have loads of regrowth. Also getting it cut seemed to help too.

I've been using biotin and Weleda rosemary hair tonic after chemo.

Yes. I’m being treated for an autoimmune condition. I used to cry in the shower and absolutely dreaded washing my hair so I completely get where you’re coming from.

It’s horrible, sheets of it :(

I have thick, very long hair naturally - but, I didn't like that it was getting a bit thinner so I looked into all sorts of hair treatments to stop the shedding. I have tried multiple shampoos, scalp tonics, caffeine tonic, scrubs, Minoxidil, natural oils like rosemary oil...the only thing that has worked for me with very, very visible results is a patented 3-step hair loss treatments that's, unfortunately, only available in one specific clinic in my city/country (they are the ones that have developed the treatment). The nurse took before and after photos of my scalp, and my hair is very visibly more dense now. You can't see my scalp skin due to hair growing out again, and I have baby hairs sprouting all over. Yay!

Other than that, I find that these approaches have also helped me a lot:

  • Infra-red/red light therapy cap
  • Dermastamping - I like the ones you can adjust the needle length of as I find that I can handle longer needles the more I get used to dermastamping my scalp
  • An electric scalp massager (but also just massaging with my fingers)
  • Washing my hair more frequently - but not every day. I think it helps to use a manual scalp massager
  • Not wearing my hair up all the time
  • Hauling my diet and adding hair growth boosting supplements like Silica
  • Something as simple as combing my hair more, and moisturising the ends with natural oils

@LejlaKapovicwhat treatment/salon is it if you’re able to say for either?

Sure, no problem - but I'm not sure how helpful it'll be if you're from the UK. The treatment is called V2X, and I have it done at a clinic called Pilorum, located in Denmark. I go to their Copenhagen branch - I thought that was their only clinic, but I can see they have a few other clinics across the main cities in Denmark. But none in other parts of the world, sadly.

This is their website if you're interested - I took the liberty to share the English version: https://www.pilorum.dk/en

I used nioxin 2 and my hair is definitely better than it was.

thedogisfine · 13/08/2026 10:51

I take biotin and iron energy +, both from nutrition geeks. And a good multi vit and vit D high strength and my hairdresser has commented on how strong my hair is and how much it’s grown back (after loosing loads from weight loss)

Toodaloos · 16/08/2026 10:24

I had good results with biotin (Viviscal) and kerastase launched a new system called genesis (pink bottles and smelled devine). Used shampoo, conditioner and serum. Had to add a touch of oil too for my damaged, frizzy hair but clear regrowth and less hair falling/breakage.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/08/2026 22:00

Watching with interest. Unfortunately due to scalp psoriasis I can't put anything on my scalp or use anything but my special shampoos so it will need to be something taken orally. Heard minoxidil only works as long as you keep taking it and don't want to become dependent. Biotin and pumpkin seed oil sound worth trying.

I used to have such thick hair in my youth and I miss it!
