Where can I find flattering evening holiday outfits for a tall size 20 in my early 60s?

I never look nice in anything. I'm tall (5'10) and fat but working on that at the gym. Currently size 20, but that's partly due to my broad shoulders. I'm 62. Just wish I was pretty. I used to be.

We've booked a few days in a lovely looking Crete resort for September and I'd like a couple of nice dresses for dinner. Everything is too short or too frumpy. I normally buy Boden type stuff - it's long enough!! I have enough day and pool stuff after a weekend away last month but would love something for evenings. Long Tall Sally is polyester hell, the plus size shops ditto, plus they are often too short. I have trawled Monsoon. Separates or dresses.

Are there are any places I've missed? Like Farm Rio (the longer stuff :) ) but a bit looser and cheaper. I guess I could probably spend £300ish on some holiday clothes.

I'm a cool summer - blues/turquoises are my go to and apparently pink suits me more than peaches. Definitely no black. I don't like having bare arms but am happy with a wrap. I do have a fabulous silk embroidered shawl - multicoloured on a cream background - so plain colours would be perfect.

Have a look at YOURS clothing.

im 5”8 and size 16 and just got some lovely smock dresses is cotton jersey and some more cotton from there.

I love Box 2. Their clothes are very different.

Simply Robell is another good one.

And if you can splurge, Chesca. The dresses are gorgeous.

have you looked at Roman.co.uk?

Im an 18 Apple shape with strong square shoulder from sports and I’d never wear a dress.

I have a pair of very soft, flowing, full length cotton trousers in navy print which are perfect with a smart white top.

East do some lovely dresses. Apparently they’re now owned by Monsoon but I’ve had dresses from this brand and they’re really nice. www.monsoon.co.uk/east/

Thank you - some other things to look at! I had some nice things from East back in the day. Roman also - am a bit put off by their outlet store near us but it seems they do much nicer clothes than they sell at the outlet!! Will look at Yours too. Simply Robell is brand new to me!

I do think wide legged trousers are the way to go. Thanks for all the pointers!

scandi brands are good for tall, larger sizes
in natural fibres - part 2, Masai etc, I find.

Oh I know! Lived in Stockholm for a year and everything was long/broad enough! Still a bit addicted to H and M! Bought my first dress from there abroad when I was 16!!

I know everything at Rixo is long!! There's a definite gap in the market for people who want half decent quality and longer lengths, particularly in tops. Eating less and going to the gym more is helping me lose weight slowly but my arms will still be long and I'll always have a long back.

I have lost a bit of weight now but I have always found it really tricky to find tall clothes in a plus size. Someone has mentioned Yours but I have found their trousers to be quite short. I have found a few nice pieces on Vinted by searching for tall ranges. Funnily enough I found a couple of really nice blazers from Dorothy Perkins. I also bought a body suit from the boohoo tall range in a size 18 which is really lovely and well proportioned for my long torso. I have also found the older Long Tall Sally stuff much better quality.

Hi op maybe Fat Face. Penneys had some nice long linen dresses. Find Yours some of the material bit tatty. Got 2 nice skirts from cotton traders I put vest tops with them. Im same size.
