I don’t wear any…….

  1. Black. Ever. Feel like I’ve time travelled to being a waitress 40 years ago, which I hated.
  1. Cold shoulder or no shoulder tops. My frame is tiny, literally 13 inches across the shoulder - still look like a shot putter.
  1. Co - ords. Fabulous on everyone else, pyjamas on me.
  1. Shorts. Tried every style but basically my legs are the least attractive part of my body so every time I put shorts on I see too much leg and feel self conscious.
  1. Knee length dresses. Same reason as shorts, cankles, wobbly calves. Yeurgh.
  1. Polyester. Unless there’s some in the gym leggings and I only wear them for an hour. It’s just too warm in London for poly.

you ? (Excuse numbering, on stupid phone if you put in spaces it then gets rid of numbers 🤦‍♀️)

I can’t wear brown or orange or cream or autumn colours.

I haven’t got my knees out for thirty years. I will wear shorts in the garden but not out.

Pleated skirts look hideous on me even when I was slim.

It's taken me years to work it out but I have a short body. I used to wonder why I can’t just wear a white t shirt and jeans and that’s why. I look all bunched up around the middle. The tucked in look does not suit me.

I also haven’t worn a formal jacket for years as they remind me of work in the 80s. The blazer and jeans look doesn’t suit me at all.

I also never ever wear a cardigan. I prefer a hoody if I need the warmth.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/08/2026 09:36

Prints, with the exception of stripes and leopard
Shorts, other than pj shorts for bed
Tights, so I only wear dresses and skirts in summer
Eyeliner
Leggings if I am not doing actual exercise
Heels

loveagift · 07/08/2026 09:39

Pastels shades
Dungarees
Drop waist
V necks
Court shoes
Nude heels
Tie dye/paisley
Chunky cardigans
bum exposing shorts
Flat mule style sandals
slingbacks

None of the above are me, some I have never worn & some I learned in my teenage years were not for me.

MargoLeadbetterisQueen · 07/08/2026 09:41

Anything made from acrylic or polyester
Leggings
Shorts
Cold shoulder tops
High heels
Eye shadow, false eyelashes, foundation, blusher or lipstick.
Patterned trousers
Maxi dresses or skirts

Nincompoo · 07/08/2026 09:44

Logos/anything with writing on
Frills/tiers
Balloon sleeves
Yellow
Heels
Non stretchy pyjamas!

  • foundation. I've never even tried it. I have never felt confident with make up and no way can I attempt blending and colour matching and all the rest of it. My skin is fine so I just have never bothered.
  • trousers except for jeans. I can't get them to look nice or find the right length, I just can't seem to make them work. I'm not great with skirts either, it's jeans or a dress every day.
  • heels or pointy toed shoes, both are agony.
  • shorts. I once found a pair of tropical print culottes as part of this super cute set I wore on holiday, but I am so conscious of spider veins and now some varicose veins on my legs that I keep them covered.
  • shirts or shirt dresses. Nothing buttons up over my bust.
PatioDwellers · 07/08/2026 09:54

Large boobs so anything crew neck and I instantly look like Les Dawson in drag - same with cardigans. Look so nice on other people - nope - there's that Les Dawson again.

Coords - pyjamas or I've escaped from rehab.

Shorts - I don't look great in them but to be honest after spending £3k getting my varicose veins out I'm going to bloody well wear them.

BebbanburgIsMine · 07/08/2026 09:57

I’m pretty much the same as you OP,

I don’t wear black at all, or cold shoulder tops, shorts, co-ords, shorts or knee length dresses ( love a midi or maxi dress though)

I would add trousers to my list, I hate them, sure there’s more I haven’t thought of.

forgivingfiggy · 07/08/2026 09:59

Anything red. I don’t know if it doesn’t suit me, but anytime I wear anything red I feel really flat and a bit anxious - what’s that about?

Shorts - like OP my legs are not a feature I wish to showcase.

Pattern - pin stripe is about as patterned as I can tolerate. I love prints to look at, but not to wear.

Girlintheframe · 07/08/2026 10:06

Yellow - it makes me look jaundiced

Anything with a waist tie - I’m high waisted and they just seem to sit around my least favourite part of myself

Heels - tried for years as I love the look of them but they just make my feet hurt and I walk weird

pastel colours - just not keen with the exception of blue

eyeshadow - always had hooded eyes and just can’t get it to work for me. My tiny eyes look even smaller with it on.

TheChosenTwo · 07/08/2026 10:08

Patterns/print, especially floral/ditsy print anything. i don’t mind a stripe though.
Co-ords - they are just pyjamas and I don’t own or wear those either!
Sandals - they are all incredibly ugly, I think it’s mainly feet that I hate but I’ve never seen a nice sandal shared on here or in real life.
decorative scarf - if I’m wearing a scarf it’s a big thick woolly one for keeping my neck warm and the chill out.
anything with a logo or big branding on - just looks so tacky to me (have some adidas T-shirts for the gym but I overlook the 3 stripes down the shoulders because I’m at the gym and there to work out). Same for clothes with slogans or wording on, I hate them.

pinkpony88 · 07/08/2026 10:09

Beige or any variation of. Makes me look like I died a few days ago 😬

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 07/08/2026 10:09

Jeans
Trousers
Black
Anything with a number on it
Anything with writing on it
Spotty patterns
Stripes
Sports wear things
Trainers
Cropped tops
Cold shoulders
T-shirts
Polo necks.

loveagift · 07/08/2026 10:15

Co-ords - they are just pyjamas and I don’t own or wear those either!

Coordinates are just matching tops & bottoms as opposed to matching shirt & baggy trousers.

It’s the matching that gives the pyjama vibes - could be shorts and tshirt, shirt and trousers whatever, it just looks sloppy like pjs to me! Not helped by the fact that they’re often stripey or matching prints!

CypressMoon · 07/08/2026 10:43

...thing above the knee. I have chunky legs with very chubby knees. Just can't wear anything above midi length.

Flat shoes. I can wear trainers or hiking boots but anything with a thin sole makes me walk really badly and brings on plantar fasciitis. No light summer sandals, ballet pumps, Converse or similar.

Fitted shift dresses. I absolutely love them but they make me look like Trunchbull not Audrey Hepburn

SocksAndTheCity · 07/08/2026 10:47

Blue apart from (very rarely) blue jeans
Purple because I look like a corpse
Heels
Pleated skirts
Midi dresses
Jumpsuits
Blazers
Silver jewellery
High necked anything
Shirts/buttoned front anything
Polyester or acrylic

loveagift · 07/08/2026 10:48

@TheChosenTwofair enough

smilesy · 07/08/2026 10:54

Anything in a blush pink or beige tone. I can wear baby pink and fuchsia or camel, but anything flesh toned just makes me look ill.

Cold shoulder tops look horrendous on 99.9% of people that wear them and seem to me to be utterly pointless, especially the polo neck knitted variety. Why wear a jumper with massive air holes in it? They are not in any way flattering or sexy

Cropped, loose fitting trousers with a drawstring waist. Guaranteed to make legs look stumpy. Particularly when paired with running style trainers

Frills. I just look like I’m trying too hard

mtobrokeme · 07/08/2026 10:58

Dresses. They look ridiculous on me. All dresses.

Foundation. I don’t think it looks very good, I dont need it, I think it looks ageing on most people.

Baggy, mom, barrel leg jeans. Have yet to see them look good on anyone, myself included.

Jerrybalanitis · 07/08/2026 11:01

BrokenBiscuitss · 07/08/2026 08:05

Trousers: i wear jeans, joggers and skirts but never met a pair of trousers I like
Jumpsuits: same reason
Lipstick: either comes off after 5 min or is the horrible long lasting kind that makes my lips look parched
Cardigans: annoying

Love this. Personification of pesky clothes 😀

drspouse · 07/08/2026 11:01

Black, yellow, orange - make me look dead.
Heels - I have one pair with a 1/2" wedge and I nearly fell over them walking into town once!
Anything with any fancy sleeves, makes my bust look even more enormous.

LumpkinPumpkin · 07/08/2026 11:09

Off the shoulder tops/dresses. Just annoying.
One sleeve/one strap tops/dresses. As above.
Anything that finishes mid-calf. Gives me dumpy legs.
Low rise anything. Short waist and mum tum.
Tops that finish at the hip. Within reason obviously - If I’m throwing on jeans at a jumper for gardening or something it’s fine!
Ballerina flats. I love a barefoot shoe but I can’t wear a non-flexible flat sole.
Pointy shoes. I have flippers and my toes like space.
Underwired bras. Despite being on the chunkier side, I have no covering on my ribs and wired bras just hurt. Yes I have tried a million different styles and sizes.

fishonabicycle · 07/08/2026 11:12

Crew neck anything - makes me feel matronly,
Bright blue/green/red - any bright colour actually (apart from orange)
Footwear with thin soles - have to be thick/clumpy
Wool (itchy as fuck)
Leather/leather look clothes of any sort (makes me think of Dorian from Birds of a feather)
Most skirts

lljkk · 07/08/2026 11:13

Everyone plays to their appearance strengths or weaknesses, don't they?

I like my big broad shoulders, btw, means hourglass figure. Can't knock that. :)
