If you've bought this, have you dared to handwash it? Says dry clean only but is 98% cotton 2% elastane. (The lining is viscose which might shrink differently but I think this is confined to pockets )

First of all, does it need to be cleaned? Just because you've worn it doesn't mean it has to be cleaned.

If it were me, I'd either bite the bullet and have it dry cleaned or very, very gently wash, or even dab with a wet cloth, around just the arm holes and neck and /or spray those areas with a spray like this

That will have the fanatical "boil-wash after every wear" brigade frothing a lot ...

Not that one but I have hand washed similar in cool water, hung out at once and all fine.

Thanks all. Haven't worn it yet - still havering over whether to keep it. Dry-cleaning costs a fortune our way, and isn't that great for the environment I expect. And in this weather, I would expect the dress to need a wash/clean after two evenings' wear.

I’d either hand wash it when absolutely necessary or gently machine wash at 20 degrees by itself. Hang up from
machine and cool iron.

I always wash dry clean only dresses. I do a very gentle machine wash, reshape whilst damp then dry flat on an airer.
