Opinions on leather jackets needed!

I've been wanting to channel my inner Lorelei Gilmore and get myself a fitted leather blazer, but I can't decide if the look is very dated or a classic style? I would like dark brown, I like this style:

I've been looking in the shops but everything I've found, real leather or fake, is cropped, oversized, bomber style jackets which don't suit my body shape. I'm a tall hourglass and need something that shows I have a waist!

I’m hoping that’s just an example of the style you like rather than you intend to buy from that website as it looks very dodgy. Their reviews are definitely fake and there are no details re where they are based, where they manufacture and who they actually are. So we’ll assume China.

Anyway, I know that wasn’t actually your question, sorry! I think at present that style looks a little dated / old fashioned but fashions change and inevitably the more fitted style jacket will return at some point.

I think that kind of jacket is pretty timeless, really.

Yeah the link is just to show the style I like, I've been struggling to find examples in well known legitimate shops because it's really not in trend at the moment. Scouring Vinted to see if I can find what I'm looking for, but my worry is buying something that I end up looking ridiculous in 😅

That blazer is beautiful! I wish I had that type of budget, alas unfortunately not 😭 I'm currently losing weight and not sure what size I will end up, I think I would definitely invest in something like that when I know I'm at a weight I'd like to stay.

If I could find a faux leather blazer in that style I could try it without breaking the bank, it's just not the style of the day at the moment. I have found a nice one on Shein but I don't buy from Shein.

I have a leather blazer that I really like although it's not fitted. It's definitely a blazer and not a bomber but it's more a mannish, slightly oversized cut. But I think there's a bit of a vacuum regarding leather jacket trends at the moment - I don't see any style with the same kind of grip on the high street that biker jackets had previously. And the good thing about that is that I think you can make pretty much any style look current if you wear it with conviction!

Where to find one is another matter though. I just got lucky and came across mine in a charity shop when I wasn't even looking for one. I'd be wary of buying second hand leather without trying on and sniffing it first (it can stink if you're not careful).

I think it’s a classic style. Are you anywhere near London? If so, go to Jubilee Market in Covent Garden. Lots of leather shops, I went to one where the man running it asked me if I wouldn’t mind taking my coat off so he could see my shape, then got me a handful of ones to try. All suited me and I was really happy. Around £130.
