Quick question about a Vinted issue

Bought something on Vinted. They didn’t meet the posting deadline so they requested an extension. I agreed but said I needed it by a certain date as I am going away. The extension deadline passed yesterday and they still haven’t sent it. Vinted hasn’t automatically cancelled and issued me a refund so I have requested to cancel it myself as I am going away so if they decided to send later today it would be returned to them and I would lose out.
This request has gone to the seller to agree to, which feels unfair. How long do I have to wait for them to agree? They have ignored three messages despite being online multiple times a day. I want to purchase an alternative but don’t want to do so until this is cleared up as I don’t want to end up with two if they decide to send it anyway! Not that I would be able to pick it up as I will be away by the time it arrives.

Vinted is great but the issues are frustrating. I am a good buyer and seller, always respond, post asap etc, I hate when people behave like this.

I have spoken to the chat bot which was no help. I’ve asked to speak to a human but that takes 48 hours.

You shouldn’t cancel it. When you’re the one that cancels, you’ll get negative feedback. You should have let them cancel it.

Ah bugger. The problem is I didn’t want them to send it at this point because I would be away and wouldn’t be able to pick it up and would then receive no item, money and potentially negative feedback. I’m really frustrated that people can behave this way. I will request human intervention and for the negative feedback to be removed, I have all the messages etc sent from my side

I totally get it, I’d have had the same worry as you. It’s so annoying when they ghost you like that. Just a simple message to say they’re sorry they can’t post, and everyone knows where they stand then.

Completely random sidebar - I made a Vinted account and got banned before managing to post my first item!

Is it being delivered to a shop or post box? If so, just leave it and don’t collect it. It will be sent back to the seller and you will receive your money back.

Yes exactly, they messaged to give an excuse as to why they couldn’t send and wanted the extension then never again despite the fact that it tells me when they’ve last been on and it seems to be constant! Oh well, hopefully Vinted will intervene on my behalf!

Oh, so you get refunded? I didn’t think you did if you didn’t collect? Annoyingly, the exact same thing has just been posted so I might purchase that instead but don’t want to in case I ended up with two. I didn’t realise if you don’t collect you get the money back.

Yes, I came to say this too. I don't know if you get negative auto feedback for doing that, but I wouldn't blame you for simply not collecting given how rubbish the seller has been!

Can you reply to negative feedback? So if someone sees it you can explain why? I’m annoyed because I’ve done nothing wrong yet some how I will end up with negative feedback!!

If you don’t collect it, the buyer no longer gets refunded for it. The seller gets their item back, but the buyer doesn’t get refunded anymore.

I think you can - I'm not 100% sure about auto-feedback.
I am sorry OP. It's one of those small, annoying situations that is not the end of the world but feels really, really unfair and frustrating in the moment!

I am sorry for giving poor information! I need to bring myself up to speed on new Vinted rules.

That makes me glad I have cancelled it then!!! Hopefully Vinted get in touch and sort it out. I wonder if she was waiting to send it for that reason as I said I was going away 😂

Is this a recent change? I did it in the past (physically couldn’t get to pick up point in the v short window) but was refunded in full.

@PassMeTheCookies is that a very recent change? The Vinted help still says that if you don't collect a parcel, it will be returned, and you as the buyer will be refunded.

Update! Vinted got in touch and basically said tough tits because I agreed to the extension so it’s my problem and seller has 7 days to decide what they want to do. The message was very condescending and they tried to end the chat but I’ve reopened it to lay out my case. It’s putting me off Vinted, seems sellers can do as they please!

Can you not ask a friend to collect for you while you’re away?

I probably should have done but I have already cancelled it, stupidly. I don’t think they were going to ever send it anyway. I should have just waited for the auto- cancellation and then as you said, had they posted it got someone to grab it for me. I am
annoyed that Vinted have essentially told me to sod off!

Yes it’s a recent change. I am on the Facebook group “Vinted Idiots” and it’s reported a lot now that those who don’t collect are no longer receiving refunds.

I'm surprised that Vinted would have made a significant change like that and not updated their information on the help pages. I also wouldn't necessarily believe a lot of what is posted in the Facebook group, which I am also a member of. A lot of it is attention seeking content.

@ButterChurn if you have asked the seller to agree to cancel, you will have to wait for the duration of that process before the next action can be taken, depending on what the seller agrees to (or if their time runs out and they make no decision).

From my experience, I did have one parcel not collected, and the buyer did not receive her refund. I offered to send it to her when the parcel got returned to me, but she declined because she felt she’d hassled me (she couldn’t collect for genuine reasons, and I did receive my item back).

Maybe the issue with non-refunds is when the returned items have gone missing in transit. I had another non-collected item turn up to me two months after!

Yes, and it's a nuisance as a seller as you have to make a new listing. The seller has to confirm they have received it to get a refund.

Yes, full refund. Not sure if there is an option to give feedback, but you don’t get auto negative feedback.

It does happen and God knows why-it seems it's ran by bots who see their arses over nothing
