The crap curly hair products have that don’t work.

Picture pending approval but basically Umberto Giannini and Aussie curry products I’ve tried are absolutely useless and make my hair feel horrible.
I run a lot and in this heat get very sweaty so need to wash my hair every run. I can’t be dealing with drying and straightening so need to find something that will keep my major frizz under control so I can wash and just let it dry.

Any suggestions other than these?

Maybe it's just me but my curls are at their springiest the day after I've worked up a good sweat - better than any specialty product. Maybe just try letting your hair air-dry after runs and spacing out the washes a bit more?

Creighton's Frizz No More curl cream works wonders for me and it's soooo cheap from B&M and Home Bargains. The Aussie leave in conditioner is good too.

I'm suprised only one person has suggested this, but I have thick curly hair the only thing that works reliably is Frizz Ease, I use there shampoo, conditioner also their leave in conditioner and sometimes mouse. I find if I wash my hair every day it does go to dry though. I normally just wash 2/3 times a week.

@MigGirl Frizz Ease products are very heavy on silicones which don’t suit a lot of people with curly hair but it clearly works for you

Only curls gel and a curl brush. Brush through in sections when you’re just out of the shower then don’t touch again til dry. Scrunch out the gel with a tiny bit of oil on your hands.

I've got very thick, curly hair that is prone to frizz - Lush products were a game changer for me - Curl Power as a leave in, and Supermilk as a spray on towel wet hair. And you can buy small tubs to try it out. I get compliments about my hair all the time now.

I strongly recommend tootilab products and a bouncecurl brush, alongside a curly hair towel (think they’re micro fibre). Tootilab also do trial sizes

Merwave is brilliant.

Treluxe serum and boucleme super hold gel are my absolute favourite. Both are expensive but last forever, and more importantly, are reliably effective in keeping my curls curly for a good few days.

I’m doing Abbey Yung method for this reason and along the way I have discovered some good products as a result , some bad eg UG products make my scalp itch. This is the best one..

Most things work for me as long as I apply lots of it to sopping wet hair, air dry and then flip over to scrunch. I apply my product while still in the bath. Only Curls is good for definition and volume (not the shampoo and conditioner - the cream and gel). But I can also use cheap mousse!

I'm a runner too and the struggle is real. I normally air dry the roots and then use dry shampoo but it doesn't like being tied up much.

I use Faith in Nature conditioner - no shampoo, ever - and Boucleme expensive hair gel, but 1 bottle of the gel lasts a year. A lot of trial and error and wasted expense to get to that combination, though.

Innersence product I create curls. Can be used as a heat protector as well as curl cream. I love it- won't use anything else on my thick wavy hair.

I've started just using lots of cheap conditioner on mine, condition, comb through, rinse out, then slap a load more in, scrunch and leave.

i wash my hair every day, very occasionally just condition it if short of time , I use palmers coconut leave in conditioner spray, about 10 pumps onto wet hair ,
it’s not specifically for curly hair but works on mine , used it for years , get it in Superdrug.
I Never blow dry my hair ,
always dries naturally but it is fine so doesn’t take long

TOTALLY AGREE with you on the Aussie stuff. Over the years, I’ve bought it a few times, always seduced by its ethos. Pile of crap. Ditto absolute shite that is the colour wow overpriced anti frizz in the silver bottle. Beyond useless. This is a very refreshing thread OP, thanks!

To add, I also found certain Cantu products drying. And they are generally heavier as originally designed for Afro hair.

The weather has been awful for my curly hair.

I've been using serum (the aussie one) then the curl cream. I also use the Aussie deep moisture shampoo and conditioner as the pink curly one wasn't rich enough.

I found umberto Gianni drying too.

Unless they've changed it, Kerestase is good but expensive.

Ha, that made me laugh. Don’t get me started on bloody Colour Wow. For the money I paid I thought that stuff was going to change my whole life! Now I’ve just got another big bottle of overpriced shite sitting on my dresser.

I would ditch all the expensive products and go for co-washing with cheap (silicon free) conditioner; most of the supermarket 99p ones are suitable. My curls have been transformed by going silicone free: you need to scour the ingredients labels of products and avoid anything ending in -cone.
I cycle through silicone free conditioners for 'washing' depending on what smells good (!) and then scrunch UG gel into wet hair and air dry. Also like Only Curls products but they're a bit more pricey

I also use Curlsmith and like it. I do a bit of their "flexi-jelly" which is a light gel.

Aussie curl felt claggy if you know what I mean and weighted my hair down, so I ditched them.
Cantu not much better, but I found the cantu curl refresh was ok if I watered it down in a spray bottle and use it sparingly.
The best thing I ever did was stop shampooing any more than once every couple of weeks. Even after getting sweaty, I made the family do the sniff test on me 😂 I just shower using water and some conditioner Pantene pro V repair and protect works best on me I leave it on ages. Then I put a bit of Fantasia frizz buster through the end, if I start to frizz I spray some of the cantu and water and sooth it out a bit.
I tried all the Only curls products, they were quite heavy too, I still use the volumiser foam sometimes, that's quite nice.

I love the noughty curl products, I use the shampoo, conditioner and curl creme (a tiny bit as my hair is quite thin) and it makes a huge difference, especially after a few uses. Its often on offer in tesco!

I have thin very curly dry and frizzy hair and Curlsmith, Redken and Krerastase work for me, in that order. My son has a thick curly hair and curl smith works for him. Curlsmith hold me softly style balm is good for a day as well as redken curl defining cream, but weightless air dry cream needs to be reapplied. In a very humid climate…As I am products used to work well but not any more.
