Primer or setting spray for preventing make-up sliding off?

I watched This Morning the other day where a makeup artist was advising how to keep your make up sliding off... She advised both primer and setting spray! Which is best? Surely one needs only one product? What can you recommend. Something not too expensive! TIA

Primer and setting spray are two different things. Primer is prepping the skin for a flawless base, and the setting spray is to set the make up in place. Elf do a really good grippy primer and a setting spray.

I swear by the Morphe setting spray in a black can. Spray it generously and it lasts from early morning until night. I use sunscreen as my primer!

Depends on your skin type.

Mine is quite dry so I don’t have the problem of make up sliding off my face due to oil.

I use Milk hydrating primer (it’s a gel formula) after my moisturiser and that’s generally enough for me.

But I tend not to use foundation- rather skin tints/cc creams/tinted moisturiser and rely on concealer to just touch up the small areas I need a bit more coverage.

On the odd occasion I do a full on face with “proper” foundation I use a setting spray. It does work but it’s quite drying on my skin - so it’s special occasion only. I can see how if you have oily skin it would work well.

For reference I’ve used the urban decay and Charlotte Tilbury setting sprays - no particular preference for either.
