Chemical Exfoliation of My Menopausal Armpits - have I gone mad?

I have just bought, as it was on offer, an AHA deodorant. Despite washing at least once every day, I still sometimes can smell... well, not BO but not nothing. It's only obvious to me, I don't have anyone else sticking their face in my pits, but it annoys me nonetheless. AHA exfoliation jibberyfuckery deodorant is apparently the answer to all my problems.

I am on Day 1, and just had a shower (second of the day.) If I stuck my nose into a pit I could get a smell, but now I have showered I cannot. I cannot tell if this is good, bad, or neither. Is this AHA business something that gets better the more you use it, or do I just need to ignore it and buy a shit load of Sure? (Also, the AHA one is not antiperspirant - can I use that and Sure? - I am obviously a deodorant ignoramus.)

Are you washing with proper bar soap? And not Dove?
Shower gel leaves a film on your skin that stops antiperspirant and deodorant from working properly.

Oh and I'm assuming you know the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant?
And that they are applied at night?

I use shower gel, and a body scrub thingy, and yes I do! I don't just apply at night though, but I tend to have a shower in the evening as well as the morning as I work outdoors (so even in the winter I do this.) This has also been a relatively recent development rather than an issue that's dragged on.

Proper soap is your friend.

Tried that too! I wanted to smell of NOTHING and it didn't seem to work. To clarify, I don't 'smell' but I don't want to smell of anything at all.
