I found it helped define my jawline a bit and people did comment it looked better but apart from that, no real difference.

I do find it therapeutic to do though, so there’s the self care and mental health aspect.

It’s just another name for a jade roller isn’t it?

I’m an acupuncturist. And no, not really. It’s not what it was meant for and has some temporary effects plus some effects on acupuncture points on the face if you know what you’re doing which can be beneficial. But long term. No. It’s great for muscle tension on the traps tho!

microneedleding and RF are the way forward for less invasive techniques that actually have an effect.

No -it’s more than that.

I did it every day for two weeks and my face literally transformed. You mustn't use a lot of pressure. I'd definitely do it again before an event or something.

Now I just do it a couple of times a week because it feels lovely.

What’s RF? (I’m really tired but it’s probably really obvious so sorry!).

Depends how puffy your face is. If you are someone who retains fluids in their face and chin it can really make a difference.

I got a gua sha in M&S advent calendar and haven't got the faintest idea what to do with it. Can you advise or should I look for a YouTube tutorial?

I don't know how to say this without sounding sarcastic, but Google exists

I followed a YouTube video, took a few minutes but obviously you can do it slower!

HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf · 30/07/2026 09:30

I go to a gua sha facialist and look fucking amazing afterwards, like DH (not the most observant of men) piped up ‘you look ten years younger, where have you been?’ After one recently. But it doesn’t last. I’d definitely get one before a big event though.

It helps with lymphatic drainage so yes, using it is going to make a difference, but it is a temporary one.
