Do these slim jeans look too much like skinny jeans?

Hello! I am in need of some new clothes as have not bothered for years since I don't much like new trends. I don't suit wide or baggy jeans and don't care if they are 'current' as I'm a stubborn mule like that.Grin
I need a mid rise. I have been scouring the net and not much luck, since most are either wide or spray-on skinny.

I have located these 'slim' jeans and since my calves and ankles are a bit skinny i do think they'd fit more like 'slim straight' legs at the bottom, but normal everywhere else.

My problem is, do these look too much like skinny jeans to you? I don't miss that clenching sausage fit around my arse and thighs. I am normal BMI and average height so could probably pull it off but don't want the sausage effect or self consciousness of old style skinnies.

Here is a pic, they are the 'slim parfait' by Sezane; great fabric, and they look great on model, but then of course they do!

No picture.

They usually take a few minutes to show. They have to be approved.

Gettingbysomehow · 24/07/2026 20:12

I looked them up. They are skinny jeans.

The brut sexy sezanne jeans are straight leg.

JulesGeebee · 24/07/2026 20:17

I’ve had two pairs of slim parfait and they are definitely a skinny jean although they look less skinny on the Sezane models

Fatiguedwithlife · 24/07/2026 20:21

Thats a skinny Jean

hiplockbag · 24/07/2026 20:23

Ah bugger. Well at least I know, thank you everyone!

There's a girlfriend cut at Crew Clothing that I like (again 99% cotton so quite good) but suspect the rise is too high for my body shape. It would possibly pool the fabric around the crotch on me (im short waisted).

Here is a pic!

Levi 501s are mid rise straight leg.

Aren't they over 10" rise? I look like a pillock in higher rises. Love the style though.

Just buy them if you like them!

Gettingbysomehow · 24/07/2026 20:39

Im short waisted too. High rise jeans look like dungarees on me 😂

MrsElf · 24/07/2026 20:42

I have the sesame sexy jeans - v similar fit to my completely ancient slim jeans, but mid rather than low rise.

hiplockbag · 24/07/2026 20:45

I am the kind of person who would not suit Toast clothing!
I think a lot of styles and brands for women over 50 now are super boxy with high necks, dropped shoulders and wide legs. I look like I'm doing cosplay in it and yet loved the look on other people.

I was more at home in the 90's, body wise. Strappy dresses and slouchy but still well fitted jeans. They brought Y2K back, but gave it waaaay more fabric!

You might be thinking of the Ribcage Straight. They are VERY high (I have them) but a great straight leg.

My 501s hit me at the waist. I love them; super comfy.

They are button fly if you’re ok with that.

Tortephant · 24/07/2026 21:07

It’s always difficult to change style, we get very accustomed to what we think suits us form style that have been in a while eg skinny jeans.

I hate a 501 90s on me. DH loves it. And it’s now. Be brave

hiplockbag · 24/07/2026 21:23

I never wore skinny jeans as felt self conscious in them so certainly am not 'used' to them Confused

I dont like or suit wide legs so would be a bit silly to force myself into them, really.

What about barrel legs? Have you tried them?

Both styles in the pics do look very dated.

I don't care about dated it doesn't make sense to me, i prefer slimmer fits so maybe girlfriend or a relaxed slim?

To be honest, this reads like a Clinton's card Grin
