Gift for me, which face cream?

My DH wants to buy me a gift and I could do with some face cream, I am 64 with normal skin and a few lines but not too bad. I have looked at some gift sets and I cant choose, can anyone recommend please but not tret?
I have considered:
Lancome renergie multilift
Elemis Marine Cream
Estee Lauder revitalising supreme

I am open to suggestions, thanks very much.

Could you get samples before buying the big size if you have a store with a beauty section nearby?

I'd look at Heaven skincare.

I'd go with medik8 personally. But the elemis is really lovely.

What other things do you already use?

Hi @Travelcrazy I am a few years younger than you and do a lot of research into this kind of stuff. I used Elemis for quite a while but the prices are getting ridiculous.
The Estée Lauder cream is fine as is the Lancome one, which is the better of the 2, I think these are brands we grew up with. However, a large part of the price you pay is to pay for the marketing/advertising campaigns.
So after a bit of research into ingredients I found Medik8 and changed my Elemis Day and Night creams to theirs.
You sound like you have lovely skin. I stopped using active ingredients on my skin (it became so sensitive) but please bear in mind all moisturisers are just that, no matter what it says on the packaging. Some do have ingredients which help attract extra moisture, but for results with wrinkles the product to go for is prescription Tret. Lots of MNers use it and swear by it, but due to very sensitive skin I can’t use it, but it is the effective way to target wrinkles.

I love Medik8 but am using The Skin Diary as my night cream. It means that I have dropped Medik8’s wonderful retinol from my routine for the time being.
I’m going to see how I get on. I use Medik8’s Vitamin C in the morning and their SPF moisturiser is excellent.

I've stopped buying posh face cream after years of addiction and buy Aldi stuff now. With the exception of one little luxury.

Nuxe Velvet Merveillance Lift.

It feels beautiful, it's in a lovely glass pot and it smells absolutely divine. It also leaves my skin very soft and smooth.

The other one I'd buy as a treat would be L'Occitaine Immortelle Divine Cream.

I really like Elemis. Only ever buy via QVC though as I’ve found that’s where the best deals are

I’m pleasantly surprised by the Lancome one OP.

I am nearly 68 and have been very impressed with Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference moisturiser. Good texture, easily absorbed, skin looks good and it is not especially scented, which I like very much.

Moisturise does very little to the skin. It is essentially a seal to stop water loss. Cheap moisturise is just as effective as the pricey stuff, however nothing wrong with splurging if you fancy a bit of luxury.

I currently have Estee Lauder Daywear cream with the matching eye cream.

I would probably go for Elemis but that’s just because of my own choice.
I just watched a great dermatologist I like who has gone to work for Lancôme and talked about the significant research into products but I’m always aware that he’s aligned to the brand.
Most of these products get researched and produced by specific labs who come up with a formulation with the brand but you’d be surprised at how cheaply they can do it. A huge amount of the price goes in marketing and the psychological effect that you are buying something premium.
La Mer were the first to do it and most dermatologists won’t touch their moisturisers and think they are awful.
I saw a Lancôme ad yesterday with Demi Moore in it who has been paid a fortune - there is no way skincare has produced her current face, she’s clearly had a lot of work. Which is fine for her, but as you are a similar age, it’s a bit daft to think we might think, well I will look just like her if I use it.
Lauder use Paulina Porizkova for that line and good for them - she’s very candid about her skin, at least you know what you are getting.
I decided I’m not spending £110 on an Elemis moisturiser when one half the price does the same thing.
I have seen some great recommendations here and can understand how you can get bogged down.
Personally, I would go to a Lancôme counter and ask for a sample. I know it’s a faff but at least you have a chance to try it and you can always ask at the Lauder counter as well.

@PetulaGordeno thanks for the insight and the advice I am going to an airport on Saturday perhaps they will have samples if not I will try a large store.
Interestingly I just asked Chat GPT and it said the Lancome one has better ingredients for my skin :) its so difficult!

I think go with your instinct then. Try the Lancôme - live a little and enjoy!

Elemis is the most expensive and the best in my opinion so I’d choose that, for everyday I use Clarins but if someone was treating me I’d deffo choose Elemis!

The key with skincare IMO is consistency and so for that reason it's probably worth considering one that you can afford to keep using. Although if you go for the elemis you could always ask for it each christmas/birthday.

OK. Current thinking is that those things are more important than the moisturiser you put on top. There are always threads here on the innumerable options.

I use Elemis marine night cream (I buy when they have a good offer at QVC - think there's one at the moment) and use Medik8 retinol serum under it in the evening. During the day I use a Vitamin C serum with either Elemis or Omorovicza illuminating moisturiser over the top. I'd try the Elemis.

I also loved the skin diary but started to think how expensive it was and have stopped using it. I am instead using really good value beauty pie. Their retinol serum and moisturisers are the best.

I love BP but it drives me mad when they discontinue skincare products. They have got rid of my three faves. Great value if you get most of your ‘stuff’ from there.
I love the Japanfusion range it’s lovely.
