Advice on La Roche-Posay Effaclar products for cystic acne-prone skin

I’m in need of some advice on products if anyone is able as my skin is really starting to get me down.

I am currently on spironolactone tablets and azalaic acid cream (twice a day) for my acne. I constantly have painful, cystic acne and have done so for many years.

I haven’t seen any improvement yet on the spironolactone but only upped my dose a month ago to 100mg after being on 50mg for 3 months.

So I’m debating changing my skin brand to see if it’s any help. I’m currently on the Cerave anti blemish face wash and Cerave moisturiser.

I’ve seen LaRoche Posay recommended before - the Effaclar range. However, within this range there are quite a few options for face wash and moisturisers so was desperate for some help on what may have helped for others?

My skin is combination and oily, my sebum production amount has gone right down on the spironolactone luckily.

I use the effaclar products - they were recommended to me by my pharmacist whilst I was collecting a prescription for my acne. Over the years I have tried so many products, but can honestly say the effaclar range has had the biggest impact.

I use the purifying foaming gel morning and night, followed by the toner (micro exfoliant astringent lotion) but I only use this at night as it was quite drying on my skin to use twice a day. I also use the effaclar duo +m triple correction moisturiser, but only in the mornings. For targetted individual spot treatment I use the effaclar A.I imperfection corrector.

You can get the gel, toner and moisturiser as a set off Amazon, which works out cheaper than getting the three products individually. And they last ages, around 3 months. I had awful cystic acne, particularly around my jaw and on my chin, but this has reduced by around 90% I would say. I still get a few spots, but they aren't solid or painful and clear up within a couple of days. I think it only took a couple of weeks of using the effaclar products before I started to notice my skin was a lot better and fewer spots were forming.

Obviously, everyones skin is different, and people will have differing experiences, but I'm really happy with how it has been working so far for me.
