Good blotting powder?

Can anyone recommend a good but affordable (under £20 ideally) blotting type powder that I can apply over makeup throughout the day to reduce shine??

I’m not great at make up and not really sure what I need!!

Wise people please advise

I used to use single layer tissue or actual blotting papers! You can also find volcanic stone rollers to absorb excess oil.

Sadly, corn silk powder, another staple has been discontinued.

I use loose powder over my make-up in the morning, but pressed powder for daytime touch-ups. Maybelline Fit Me is really good, IMO.

I have combination skin and get a lot of oil on either side of my nose; I just blot with a tissue. I want to get it off my face rather than add more product to absorb it!

Prevention is better than cure though. I've been using The Ordinary's fermented rosehip oil some nights (I alternate with tretinoin) and it really seems to be evening out my skin's oil production. It smells gross but is very soothing and nourishing.

I have combination skin, and by lunchtime my nose and forehead used to be really shiny. Since I started using the Benefit Porefessional Primer and the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, my skin stays much less oily throughout the day.

I know they're more expensive than £20, but I save money by using a cheaper drugstore foundation instead. The powder also lasts forever. I only buy a new one about every 18 months, and it's often on offer for around £30.

If you can stretch to it, I'd definitely recommend the powder. It's been an absolute game changer for me.

I really recommend blotting paper. You can find lots of different ones on Amazon. Powder just accumulates, oxidises and can go a bit cakey. Good blotting papers take the œil off without taking your make up off. Make sure you press rather than wipe.

I try not to wear too much make up and keep to a minimum. Especially in this heat as it just feels horrible and gets more sweaty!

I very rarely top it up. It lasts all day at work without top ups. I may top it up if I go out in the afternoon and did my make up in the morning.

Well, my favourite one for years & years was Max Factor - until they changed the formula! But the manufacturer of it was Ellen Betrix, which you can find on a website called Oh Feliz, so I order it in bulk from there as I prefer the shade up from Translucent 1 - Beige 3. It's still very fair but slightly yellowish, which helps neutralise my tendency to flush. You can find the Translucent on Amazon though.
