Foundation...suggestions for a really good one???

Fancy changing my current Boots one which Ive never really been happy with. So fancy a really good one.

Want a a good coverage but one that gives me a healthy glow.

Heard Victoria Beckhams is supposed to be good but very expensive.

Charlotte Tilbury do a free consultation and comes recommended when researching.

Anyone got suggestions on a really good one

It is very good. And expensive.

I recently invested in the Chanel Les Beiges one and it’s gorgeous. Very natural but has very nice coverage. I’d say it would suit most as it’s neither matte nor overly dewey.

I use a cover cream product from a company called Veil which was developed to cover skin imperfections like scars and tattoos.

There are loads of shades and I mix 2 colours to apply to only areas of my face that need it to even out my complexion. There is a powder too that “sets” the cream. It does take a while to apply but lasts pretty much all day and is sweat proof.

I’m late 50s and find foundation settles into lines and looks unflattering.

I finish off with a spray of Elf hydrating mist after doing all my makeup.

NARS light reflecting skincare foundation 👌🏼 looks nice and natural with just a couple of pumps mixed into some kind of glowy base (I use the Saie one) but also for night out/heavier make up too. I always go back to it. I’ve used a couple of the CT foundations and found they’d apply lovely but end up separating and looking cakey by the end of the day

Someone recommended me Sculpted by Aimee, she’s an Irish makeup artist, available on Amazon/asos and I’ve been loyal to her second skin dewy foundation for two years which is unheard of for me. I feel like I’ve tried every foundation out there, and this is one I buy again and again.

I bought the Luxe colour changing one, expecting it to be shite. It’s brilliant, I love it, far better than any others I’ve tried, including VB! Not expensive either, I think it’s £25 for 2? Takes forever to arrive though.

I have spent £££ on foundation over the years Estée Lauder Double Wear which was a firm favourite , Georgio Armani, Nars, CT, Bobby Brown - you name it I’ve tried it - and the one I really like at mo is L’Oréal True Match Foundation I kid you not ! it has great coverage. For summer I like a lighter glowy look and use L’Oréal Glotion at £11.99 it’s fab value for money not too heavy in summer.

my go to was always Dior backstage it’s medium but buildable coverage and give a nice fresh finish that just looks like healthy skin.
but I recently bought Madara skin equal foundation from TikTok shop and it’s brilliant. Really good coverage, dewy not sweaty finish and it wears so well. I’ve not used my Dior one for ages.

Sadly I am now hooked on the VB one, it really is in a different league.

i use for work (who don’t deserve to see my face at its best!) Nars radiant glow, or double wear. I think I’m getting too old for the finish of double wear now though, so predominantly use Nars as my back up option.

if I had the money, I would wear the VB one every single day though - it’s glowy in a way that I’ve not managed to replicate with anything else.

Seconding sculpted by Aimee. I also really like Fenty beauty, it's lovely and light on my skin.

Thirding Sculpted by Aimee. I'm a cream cushion girl because I like a lighter, buildable coverage that's not too glowy but others swear by her other foundations.

@Empress13 thats what I currently use!!!! But fancied a change. Kerp rrading about the VB one abd Dycpher...the one that AI matches to your photo.

I just fell in love with Haus Labs and Rare Beauty.

Similar in terms of having spent a lot in the past, and now I’ve settled on No 7 serum or restore & renew foundations and absolutely love them.

The last time I was tempted to treat myself to a more expensive one I went to a Charlotte Tilbury counter to be colour matched, stupidly didn’t just ask for a sample and the colour was so far off and it was also so drying I had to give it away.

As someone who doesn’t wear foundation just bronzer to give my pale face a bit of life, may I ask why you do ?
It’s something I’ve wondered about.
Why women think they need foundation in the same colour as their skin.
They then add blusher for colour.
I love my lipstick, eye pencil and will wear mascara for “going out” but not everyday as I have very sensitive skin around the eye area and the palaver of removing it can cause my eyelids to swell up and go red.
I have bought the Sculpted by Aimee Cream Cushion. It’s nice and light but I prefer bronzing powder or Chanel cream bronzer. used to give my face a bit of colour- I look better with a tan 😀
I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter too but prefer my bronzing powder/ Chanel bronzing cream.
And it’s all to add a bit of colour to my face.
Basically I am asking why do women think they need foundation.

Usually to even out their skin. Mine has a lot of redness on my cheeks and so I use the Veil cover cream (I custom mix the olive and oyster shades) on these specific areas.

I think foundation evens out your skin tone

I can understand that.

I use Double Wear if I want proper coverage and staying power. I’ve literally sweated out with that foundation on and it doesn’t budge for me.

I recently got the Chanel Water Tint (I was influenced) and while it goes on nicely, it reaaaaallly is a sheer coverage. It slightly blurs my skin tone and that’s kind of it? Also doesn’t last very long for me, but that’s probably a combination of having slightly oily skin and the fact it is so lightweight.

I like a lot of the Sculpted by Aimee products. For foundation I love By Terry which is a bit pricey but not VB pricey - I got mine when there was 20% off which brought it down to a more normal foundation price.

I use Clinique Even Better Clinical serum foundation, which I think is better than Double Wear. On my non working days I use No7 Protect and Perfect Intense which is not as good but is OK.

For the pp, I have good skin but foundation evens it and makes me feel better.

Second for NARS. I love it, and Space NK did colour matching for me
