Black dress with a pop of colour for a funeral?

Hi folks,

My mum passed away a couple of weeks ago, and I'm looking for the right outfit for her funeral. The dress code is whatever makes you comfortable - black or colour - as my mum would have loved both. I'd love to find something that has a lot of black but also a hit of colour - ideally a dress, though I may have to go for a skirt/top combo.

Shirt dresses and fit and flare type things tend to suit me - things that flow out from the waist. So far this is my favourite, but I'm not a huge fan of the pattern close up - but I love the blast of colour! Has anyone got any wonderful suggestions? Thanks!

Hi all!

Thanks again for all your posts and help. One of my closest friends also saw my post and put two and two together and has been sending me lots of ideas!

Work has been ridiculous for the last couple of days, so I haven't really made a firm decision as I keep faffing then having to get back to work. I did keep going back to the Phase 8 Meloni Ombre dress, but I'm still unsure about the sleeves. However, during one of my standard Vinted searches I found that exact dress, in excellent condition, for half the price and in my size.

I've ordered it for now, and at that price (and not brand new!) I'm going to see what I can do about the sleeves. I used to do quite a lot of minor alterations to clothing, so we'll see how it goes. I've run them past a colleague who does a lot of sewing and we both think there a few options to play with - including the fact that they may be a bit less dramatic in real life! I'm quite a cold person so not hugely worried about it being too hot - but we'll see..

In the meantime I'll also keep mulling over other options - and if I do go with the Meloni one I'll definitely consider some brighter accessories to go along with it too.
