Are these suitable for a 45 year old?

I like them but I'm not sure if I can carry them off. I'm square, ordered them in a 32 x 32. They're Levi's baggy dad cargo.
In the description the model is wearing them with a cropped t-shirt - that's never going to happen! Too much belly (tbh, look a little pregnant. I'm not) Can they be worn with a normal T-shirt? Will I have to consider sleeveless?
Will they look ridiculous on a middle aged mum?

They’re just a pair of casual black trousers.

Not a single soul will look twice at them, whoever wears them.

And as there’s nothing at all extreme about their shape or proportions I imagine every wearer will put them with whatever makes them happy in front of their mirror.

In other words - you’re really overthinking this!

What do you mean carry them off. They are just a basic pair of black cargo trousers.

CaptainMyCaptain · Today 17:24

Why wouldn't they be suitable?

Flyinpig · Today 17:26

I'm 46 and wear trousers like that all the time..

SleepQuest33 · Today 17:26

Yes ofcourse they are, Im older and love that style

TheMillionthBeautyAddict · Today 17:28

I’m 39 and wearing trousers like that OP. I don’t think they’re reserved for teenagers or anything. Although I definitely wouldn’t pair them with a crop top with my mum tum!

ErrolTheDragon · Today 17:33

Who they suit is much more about shape than age. IMO they wouldn’t suit a short pear-shaped woman like me, and wouldn’t have when I was 15 or 25 any more than they would now.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · Today 17:33

I’m way older than you and have similar pairs in black and khaki. Would never have occurred to me that I’m too old to wear them.

Nor me, but I do wear them with cropped tops - boxy t-shirts that stop around waist length and are wider than I am. Significantly older than you! Haven't yet been arrested for not 'dressing my age' (I am my age, and I'm dressed ...)

OP, my leg & waist in Levi's were identical when I was slim and fit! Now I'm more waist than leg 😬

I was expecting something quite exciting when I clicked through to the thread, but they're just a basic pair of black trousers! There couldn't be anything less risky really.

You're really overthinking this. Why not branch out a bit more?!

Muttonornot · Today 18:40

I suppose I'm overthinking because the last time I wore cargo trousers I was at least 20 years younger!

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn what do you wear as a top?

I’m late fifties and you would have to pry my cargos out of my cold dead hands.

I also abhor crop tops, but I do find that fitted or semi-fitted T shirts that stop just a tad higher (just above hip bones), that cover 2 inches of my wide leg pants look best with those wider pant legs.

Regular t shirts are just a little too long and look a bit dowdy with wide legs.

Alternatively, you could try snug regular t-shirts but tuck them in at the waist? This doesn't work for me, as I've aged I no longer have a waist.
