To match or not?

Had gel nails done professionally for the first time three weeks ago for holiday.

I’ve booked to get my hands done again tomorrow, but didn’t book my toes as they’re still pretty decent.

I was going to get a new colour on my fingers today, but just realised that means fingers and toes will be different (which I’ve always been quite against for reasons unknown).

Is a mismatch as bad as I think? Or should I embrace it? What do you do?

Either way is fine.

Apparently it's fashionable. Like mismatched bikinis.

I've never liked it. My "rules" are either they match or are tonal with toe nails being darker. I would never have my finger nails painted but not my toes but it's ok to have my toes painted but not my fingers.

Yes, I know I'm ridiculous so no need to tell me! 🤣

Not at all, this makes perfect sense to me!

Personally I don’t like matching toenails and fingernails.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · Today 16:06

I never match!

ElegantlyDressing · Today 16:08

Never match, ever. But avoid clashing. Usually in summer a pastel on fingers and a deeper tone on toes. Don't always do toes in winter as no one sees them. Don't always do fingers in summer as I do a lot of gardening and they get trashed, also they like a break every now and then.

wheresmeaircon · Today 16:11

i don’t match but i tend to wear neutrals on fingernails & colour on toenails.

newnailsday · Today 16:18

When I do my own, I only ever do pale/neutral or deep pink/plummy. It’s a pink red I have just now, so might go with neutral on fingers for now.

That is what I would do. Pinky red on toes and a pale pink/pink toned neutral on fingers.

soupbucket · Today 19:45

I get my nails done every 3 weeks and my toes done every 6 so they match every other 3 weeks

TheOGCCL · Today 19:47

I prefer non matching.

OneRedHedgehog · Today 20:18

I very rarely match. Fingers done every three weeks and I very much like to mix it up, toes are once in a blue moon (slightly more frequent in summer) and always a classic red. It would be a deliberate choice for a specific event to match. But, it’s ultimately whatever you decide, I don’t think people pay oodles of attention to someone else’s hands and feet at the same time though.

WeNeedaDiagram · Today 20:24

To me, it’s quite naff and dated to have them matching. Like matching your bag to your shoes at a wedding.

But honestly, no-one apart from you is going to notice.

TheChosenTwo · Today 20:27

I don’t like matching, I only get a pedicure when I’m going on holiday and always go for something quite bright, I’ve got tanned skin already and I think it looks nice with a bright flash of neon toes!
fingers I go for whatever I fancy on the day but not neon.

Chilly80 · Today 20:43

I only get toes done every 3rd visit as they last longer like you said so I don't always match and I have never noticed if someone else was matching or not

Purplecatshopaholic · Today 21:22

I don’t like matchy-matchy, never have. Always different shades for me. It looks worse as you get older, like matching shoes/handbag etc for weddings, lol

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · Today 21:40

I think similar vibe but not matching is nicest. I prefer a slightly muted version on hands and then a bolder version on my toes... somehow the fact they're further away from my eyes makes me think they need to be brighter - obviously madness but everyone has their own take I guess!! I'd certainly never judge or see it as low rent if they're totally different though

QuietComet · Today 21:59

I never match! I have an event next week and have olive green / gold nails and burnt orange toes...
