Are ballet flats back for good?

I've noticed ballet flats everywhere recently. I remember wearing them years ago and I'm tempted to buy another pair. Are they comfortable for everyday wear? Any brands you'd recommend?

I never stopped wearing ballet flats, I sometimes wear pointed ones as they can look a bit for dressed up. I basically use them everyday for work, school drop off, etc
I like the ones from M&S, Dune, John Lewis.
Zara can sometimes have some comfy ones, but check they are leather ones.

Yes! I was out last night and noticed quite a few of the young ones wearing them, caught my attention as haven’t seen many ballet flats for a while. I still have my favourite pairs from ten years ago but not much call to wear them these days.

I’ve worn them for years so am pleased that they have made a comeback, more for me to choose from! I bought some lovely ones from Gabor for my son’s wedding which were really expensive ( for me) but even my sister, who’s not a fan of my shoes, loves them!

They're definitely back and I've bought a pair from Fitflop, but in general they're too flat to be good for your feet if you wear them to walk much of a distance. I also just generally dislike wearing shoes without socks now so I probably won't wear them that much.

I couldn’t bring myself to wear them, ever. I just think they are utterly frumpy.

They're comfy for just walking about an office, but if you're going to do much walking outdoors I think you really need something with a thicker sole.

Sorry, I think they’re absolutely awful looking but that isn’t why I am commenting - be careful with thin, flat shoes!!! I used to live in flip flops, wore them everyday as a student (not rubber ones, leather ones that used to be around). Ended up with Hagland’s heel which still have 20 years later despite taking good care of my feet and the shoes I now wear.
Wearing flat shoes with thin soles that these ballet flats typically have can be problematic, so don’t wear them everywhere, maybe just while in the office or if all day just one day a week.

Appreciate the suggestions! I was leaning towards pointed ballet flats as they look a bit smarter for work. I'll definitely have a look at M&S and John Lewis.

Thanks! I know what you mean about wearing shoes without socks it can put me off as well. Have you ever tried those invisible liner socks, or do you find they don't stay on?

I think I’m far too used to the comfort of trainers to go back to ballet flats. I just feel like I’m walking straight on the ground.

I wore them all the time about 16 years ago and started to have terrible problems with my feet. They’re just too flat and unsupportive for me. I’ll stick with my cushiony fitflops!

I've worn them for years because they're flat and I'm very tall. Even my wedding shoes were ballet flats, 30 odd years ago as I'm the same height as DH. I don't like pointed ones though, they make my feet look big.

I’ve always found them a difficult wear. Not very comfortable for much walking they aggravate my plantar fasciitis and you can’t wear socks with them.
One of my SIL wears them a lot though so they must suit some people.

Nothing is ever really back for good although they are pretty classic

Or get on the sneakerina trend as better for more walking.

Agree. I love the look of ballet flats but developed really bad plantar fasciitis from wearing them to work where we had hard floors.
