Help me find outfits for these situations!

I’m off on holiday in September and need outfits for three occasions:

• A travel day between two locations. It’s about six hours on the train, plus walking each side. I’m thinking some white linen shorts, a nice top and some new balance trainers.
• a day in Lake Como. I have a beautiful pink gingham dress (attached) but it’s fairly long. I’m 5 foot three and it sits right on the top of my feet. I could potentially hem it, but I’m worried it would then look a bit funny with the bottom. I was thinking of this with Birkenstocks.
• a day in Venice. For that I was thinking this nice cap sleeve top and some fun trousers (also attached), but I don’t know what shoes I’d wear.

Any suggestions are welcome! I’m a size 18, only real thing I’d like to avoid is shorts for any long walking days as I do tend to chafe.

Anyone? I really like a fun summer dress, or fun trousers!

White linen shorts for travel day on trains. Now, I’m messy person and that sounds unlikely to be a good mix! I’d go navy shorts if you can find some.

I have ordered some lovely cobalt blue ones! I just wanted as cool as possible as commuting in the English heat has been bad enough, let alone the Italian!

If anyone has any suggestions for plus size friendly outfits I’d be grateful!

I just need some help with what to actually look for - for example if I turn up in lake como in a lovely long dress am I going to look really out of place? That sort of thing

Maybe also consider long /cropped loose cotton or linen trousers. I find the upholstery on trainers quite scratchy on the backs of bare legs. Plasticy fake leather, or real leather, is worse!

This is a good point, I was looking at it straight from a comfort perspective in terms of temperature.

I just don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb 🤣

Long maxi dress is fine you want cool and floaty ....
Trousers. Better than shorts for travel and Venice... Personally not a fan of patterned trousers......ive got most mileage out of wide leg linen/mix as hate being sweaty so natural materials all the way ...with cotton/linen top or t ahirt i got a nice one from Zara..... But if you like them great.. would go plainish top though

Although just considering another floary dress from monsoon .. they call it a kaftan dress and the fabric is great....I have a couple of liggt cotton ones from h&m that are more midi.
M&s do really good pants that stop chafing... I use those and anti persperant on my legs ...which was a tip on Mumsnet!

My friend moved to Italy a few years ago and was recently over for a visit - she picked up this dress which is in stock in an 18 (and from the reviews looks to come in other colours too). It’s a bargain!

She’s blonde, and a 16/18 - wears a lot of wide leg linen trousers with a vest/tank and a linen shirt open over like a jacket. She’s very tanned from living abroad and really rocks the all-black linen look with some gold jewellery, hair up in a French twist and bold lipstick - whatever the Italian for “chic” is. Big sunnies. She tends to wear flip flops from a company called “Archie” a lot which apparently have proper foot support.

If you took that pink dress to a tailor they will be able to alter it so you don’t lose the bottom panel, or alternatively lose it totally, rather than it looking chopped up.

I like that! I have something similar from M&S actually, but in polka dots (can you tell I love them 😁)
