Help me style this tricky pattern

Hi all, I have a jersey skirt (a-line, knee-lenght) in a tricky color/pattern. I really like it but I can NEVER figure out what to wear on my top half. Any suggestions what colour to pair with this colourway and pattern?

I'd go for a plain coloured top, either cream or light green to go with one of the lighter colours in the pattern

An orange short sleeved jumper would look good.

Orange top. I’ve got one that would match, I need the skirt now!

A crisp white shirt?

If you can pull it off pattern clash ..fine stripes in pale green or orange.

White T/vest top
Green or orange T/vest top
Green or orange little cardi or sloppy sweatshirt.
Any of the above in a Bluey purple.

I agree with @LunaTheCat , I would go for the pattern clash. I think that would look more pulled together as an outfit, and more interesting than a plain single colour top, but the latter is fine too.

Similar to others I woukd pick one of the minor colours in the pattern and get a top in that colourway - so cream, orange, white, pale green.

Thank you all! I have tried white but it looks very stark against the pattern; I do like the idea of properly clashing but I fear I might not be bold enough

I just had an idea - I might take the skirt with me to the shops and literally hold it against tops in yellow, cream, light green etc to see what works!

Wear it with a plain top and then go in the shops. To see which other colours look better with it than what you are in .I’ve done that before.

A top in a colour that matches any colour in your amazing skirt would look smart I reckon.

Be careful of doing a pattern clash. You have to know how to do it and very few of us get it right.

How is/was it styled on the website?

I saw a women in her 20s wearing striped baggy wide legged line type trousers with a floral shirt. It looked amazing and I can't get it out of my head because she was so casual about it, hair in a pony tail, coloured trainers, just so effortless.
She didn't look "put together" but she didn't look crazy either.

So maybe you could find a contrasting top such as pale blue with embroidery on the collar or an interesting neck line.

a dark slate grey might look good as well

I would either match the background green or pick something that matches the orange or yellow flowers.

I'm afraid I would look like i just fell out of my wardrobe but I agree, looks like this can be amazing.

I bought the skirt few years back from a second hand store in Amsterdam so I've never seen it styled!

@Noshadelamp You gave me an idea! I googled the brand and it is a Dutch-based company. Of course that skirt is no longer in stock, but they have this which is similar in style and colourful. I like how it's styled. I think I'll look for a light green/cream/sage top to go with it

You could go totally opposite and pick a bright blue or bright red top.
