Nails lifting after long term biab use

Hi,
Ive been having Biab nails in a salon for last 13 months. No problems until now…. About 3 of my nails look like they are lifting away from the finger (if you get what I mean) I can see a gap under the nail and the skin looks a bit discoloured and a bit flaky.

What’s going on?? I have very weak nails and a good search says it’s probably over filing over time?

im booked in to get my current biab removed so the nail tech (who is lovely) can have a good look.

does it sounds like I need to take a break??

Your nails are lifting... What would have to happen for you to know for sure to take a break? Curious

Hmmm part of my actual body is falling off.... should I stop putting something on them that prevents them getting any light or oxygen....

Sounds like fungal infection, if the nail has lifted they often recommend for the whole nail to be removed!! Defo get the biab off asap xx

I have to take a break with BIAB every 4-5 months of this starts to happen to my nails

This has happened to mine. I am now on a break and letting them grow out. It will be more than a couple of months. It’s been 6 so far and to be honest despite loving having my nails being done, I won’t do it again as they’re in such a mess.

Why not just do your own nails and use the ones you've got?

Many years ago I had gel nails done twice, several of my nails started lifting from the nail beds, so obviously I stopped having them done.
I let the nails grow out, never had any type of gel nails or nails which use a UV light again and it never happened again. Apparently it can happen and is an allergic reaction.

I lost 3 of my toenails after I had BIAB nails just once and the rest, along with my fingernails, were discoloured and brittle for a good few months. Never again.
