What should I do with this comb?

Was recently given this horn comb as a gift. I think it looks really beautiful, and does feel nice on my scalp but have no idea if it’s actually good for my hair, I’m usually a hair brush person!

Anyone got any experience using combs on their hair, and any particular benefits to the horn comb eg for scalp or hair detangling? I thought it could be a nice gift to give on, particularly to DH, but curious if there’s more to it than just being pretty!

Its gorgeous. I use a comb that size to subdue unruly morning hair by running it across sticky up bits having wet the comb first. Works a treat.

Personally, I’d give it to charity. I wouldn’t use it. I don’t like decorative stuff and I don’t think it’s attractive in any way.

Right, but the OP does think it’s attractive and has thought about giving it to her husband so none of that matters.

I use a brush too but I have a comb in my bag for tidying up my hair during the day.

I keep a small comb in my handbag for my fringe - that’s the perfect size

Horn stays lovely and cool. It is a perfect size to travel with.

What exactly were you hoping to achieve with that comment?

@willsswlondon just fyi, horn combs are incredibly good for your hair and scalp.

They are made of keratin, the same structural protein as human hair, ergo, they glide smoothly without creating friction or static.

Therefore you'll have less frizz and breakage.

If it doesn't suit your hair length, it'd be nice to give to your husband.

Thank you all for the feedback! I'm excited to try it more based on your suggestions

I love that you’re excited to try a comb. 😂

FWIW, I only ever use combs. I have thick, long curly hair and can only comb through when it’s wet.

Ohhh good to know! Out of interest, do you use any specific type of comb?

I only ever use combs. The teeth are spaced so that they don't snag your hair and break it so prevents dead ends. They are great for preventing frizzy hair, too, if that's an issue. Also, they are better for people with oily scalps because they don't activate the oil, due to smaller surface area, unlike brushes. Lots of advantages but depends on what your aim is, I guess!
