I tend to pitch in the middle with the expectation people will offer. I usually have a price in my I head I won't go lower than for the first week or so. Once something has hung around for 10 days plus then generally I'll take whatever I can get.
Seems to me around 10% of people will buy something they want at the price asked - which always takes me by surprise. 😄The other 90% will make offers.
Generally speaking I think most offers I get are people calculating what the fee and postage will be and deducting that, which is fine and that's why I list for a bit more than I'm expecting to get.
Less often, but still with some frequency, are the people who offer 40% less on a very newly listed item, most of which will then sell at asking or only slightly less in the same timeframe. I assume the strategy works occasionally for them and that's why they do it.
