Cleaning Glasses with makeup on

I’ve worn distance glasses for a while but I’ve just been prescribed varifocal lenses which I have to wear all the time.

I wear makeup and I like a dewy look but my glasses are constantly getting greasy with tinted moisturiser and spf and difficult to clean.

For those who wear makeup, what’s your glasses cleaning routine? What do you use? Thanks x

Alcohol wipes, about three times per day. Boots or Zeiss are the best ones but W5 Lidl are good too and much cheaper. I hate smearer glasses.

Lidl do a box of cleaning wipes for glasses, all individually wrapped.
I have them in every bag, the car, drawer at work, coat pockets...

Bit of washing up liquid, warm water and a glasses cleaning cloth!

A quick wipe with my top/skirt or whatever fabric is handy...

I wash them with liquid hand soap in between wipes with a cloth, it does a great job on greasy smears.

I use glass cleaner spray and a microfibres cloth. Or rinse off in the shower and dry.

Dishwasher overnight and Zeiss wipes during the day

washing up liquid, but I do wonder if your makeup is suiting your skin. I also wear dewy foundation and lots of eye makeup and don't have this issue.

I really don't think you can avoid getting makeup on your glasses!! Its probably to do with where they sit on your nose and mine are always covered in foundation and mascara 😂

I have a spray from Specsavers but for a deeper clean, I've got an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner which is great for getting into the hinges www.lakeland.co.uk/products/lakeland-ultrasonic-jewellery-cleaner?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23640707495&gbraid=0AAAAADtoD6O7YDjdeaykXHuQBeQE4aDDM&gclid=CjwKCAjwpK3SBhASEiwAtV1SPC205C2xuOdm7SNsZwnKibPDskpK3NEB6T9rryl6BWln_0Fx9cFJUxoCOA4QAvD_BwE

Dishwasher? Are people really putting their glasses in the dishwasher?!

My optician nearly had a stroke when I mentioned doing that as it spoils the lens coatings apparently. I use a dry microfibre cloth.

Thank you! I will certainly try the wipes. For those who use wipes do you find they are ok or do you need to buff them dry after? (apologies I’ve never used the wipes before)

I currently keep washing them with warm soapy water or in the shower but it’s a faff. I’ve also tried polishing with my tshirt, cardigan etc in a pinch but I find they just smear or I get make up on my top lol.

i have an ultra sonic cleaner at work but I need my glasses for work and can’t bring it home 🤣

The wipes don’t need to be buffed dry, it’s virtually instant. It’s quite satisfying getting into all the hinges to get all the make up out!

This sounds like magic. I definitely have been living under a rock I think haha
