Swimwear for pre-teen and teen girls

I have a DD 11, and in the past 6 months she went from petite, sporty build to a feminine, curvy pre-teen (wide hips, small waist and about A cup).

She has a swimming summer camp at the end of the summer, and we are really struggling for swimwear. She used to wear the H&M swimsuits from kids section but they only go up to 10y and don't accomodate the wider hips. And the swimsuits from teen and women's section just don't fit quite right (her words).

We would like to find 2-3 pairs, one piece, smooth fabric (sensitivities issues) but also girlie (so Speedo etc are unfortunatelly out).

Where are you all buying swimsuits (or clothing for that matter) for your pre-teen, tween girls?

Thank you!

To give you an idea, this is the only pair she currently has (and loves!)...

I’m not sure S&B is going to collate this portfolio for you.

Is that the right link? It’s for a high leg women’s swimsuit with a cut out cleavage bit so doesn’t really fit with what you’ve described…
But try the surf brands like Roxy for good quality teen swimwear with nice prints.

Have you looked at Roxy? Quite sporty, but not speedo! I found them good for the early teen years with my girls.

I get my DD from primark. She’s nearly 13. She recently changed shape small waist hips and is now a C cup. She wears ladies S so we grabbed a few swimsuits from primark. She will only wear black but she does like to put a pair of Nike shorts and a T-shirt on top as she is still adjusting to her new womanly figure and don’t like doing swimming in front of others just the swimsuit on.

Try New Look 9-15 section. My DD has outgrown them now, but they’ve previously been good for swimwear that’s grown up, but not TOO grown up, if you see what I mean!

Yes, it is the right link... They obviously fit differently on her but we were in two minds buying them since we felt they were a bit too grown-up too (but really needed a pair quickly and nothing else fitted/she didn't like it so we got her these). Would love to get some a bit less "adult" now hence asking here... It's just so tricky!

Have you looked at brands such as Amanzi and Funkita - they are what all the girls wear at my daughter’s competitive club

CoffeeAndStripedtops · 05/07/2026 13:07

Will look into Roxy and Primark, thank you. We are not in the UK but happy to order online.

Also OP you’re not going to get boob padding like in that H&M one but if what you’re after is essentially a kids swimsuit in a tween size (sorry still not entirely sure from your posts what you’re actually after) then Next swimsuits go up to age 16 and are a fair bit cheaper than Roxy.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/07/2026 14:48

M&S do several of their girls swimming costumes up to Age 16.
Speedo do a recreation range as well as their traditional training/racing stuff.
Agree that Funkita may offer what you’re after.

CoffeeAndStripedtops · 05/07/2026 16:27

We are not quite sure what we are after to be honest. We used to buy them in H&M and Calzedonia kids but DDs shape changed so much in the past months that we are trying to find another go-to brand...

They don't need to be padded (I would prefer they are not so they dry quicker) but need to accomodate for wider hips which many we tried do not.

I have been checking some of the suggested options, so will show them to her tonight.

Thank you ladies!

New Look has a good range of bikinis and swimming costumes in teen sizes.

H&M kids range goes up to age 14+ not age 10?

My 13 yo DD, who is on the smaller end and sounds a similar shape to your 11yo, has found her bikinis at these two shops.

Monsoon might also be worth a look, and Decathlon

Moveoverdarlin · 10/07/2026 17:32

Sorry that H&M swimsuit isn’t remotely suitable for a swimming camp IMO. Assuming it’s proper swimming everyday, surely her boobs will fall out?

I would go for sporty brands like Nike, Adidas and Speedo do really nice ones. It’s not like Speedo from yesteryear. They do competition swim suits but they’re strappy and nice colours and really high cut.

As others have said Roxy, Quiksilver would be a good choice.

Highstreet ones will be great for the beach, but not up to swimming properly everyday. The chlorine will wreck them.
