On the hunt for the perfect lightweight linen shirt, ideally under £30

I need a nice lightweight cover up style shirt for my holiday. I think white is my best bet so it goes with everything. Not too oversized, but also enough to look chic. It needs to be able to withstand being thrown in my bag for the day, and pulled out if needed.

Does this exist?!

M and S used to do them .

H&M or Zara have some lovely linen pieces just now.

H&M linen oversize shirts are elite IMO, and there's always loads of them on Vinted. I like the linen-blend ones, in pale blue with white stripes. The look good one the beach and they look good over a scrappy black midi for evening.

Be aware though that anything linen that's been chucked in your beach bag will probably be pretty crumpled when you put it on! It doesn't bother me - I've made my peace with linen - but some people are fussy about creases.

H&M looks great, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that!

Re creasing - it’s something I’ll just have to accept I think. I just want something I can throw on over the top of any sleeveless outfits to stop me burning!

I like Uniqlo for linen shirts. They have a great variety of sizes and colours. £39.90 but there is a sale at the moment and I think there is 10% off for first time purchases. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E475647-000/00?colorDisplayCode=51&sizeDisplayCode=003

These men’s linen shirts are £29.95.They come in 3 different fits and lots of colours. I like the look of men’s shirts as cover ups.

I love linen shirts, but I do find white clothing stains yellow with sun cream. So if it’s for every day wear I’d probably go for something like blue or light tan instead, depending on your colouring. I got a lovely oversized blue Abercrombie & Fitch one recently, via vinted.

My issue is that if I’m going for a colour I’ll need at least two - light blue for example would work with some of my dresses (brown and yellow), but not with red

M&S has a calico one in for £40 - could work! also comes in light blue and peach.
