Trying to find another couple of dresses for the summer. Age 50, size 12, 36DD. Looking for possibly a cool wrap dress, something with short sleeves.

I was referring to ‘At Last’ dresses, link above.

I can't find At Last on trustpilot - has anyone else bought from that site?

The problem I find with these " double cotton" as they refer to them dresses is that regardless of the price the fabric is not one which lasts well. I had a Me and Em one and an NRBY which were pricey and they have both ended up looking so worn despite hand washing.

I have a few Seasalt Chapelle. They suit my shape, and wash and dry really well.

Yes me and the other poster. They also sell via Wolf & Badger

This dress from Hobbs is absolutely lovely to wear in the heat, with no fabric touching you around the middle, enough coverage on the shoulders that there’s no armpit folds on display, and surprisingly flattering. I’m 5’ 6” size 16 and it is just above knee length on me. As soon as I’ve worn it I want to wash it so I can wear it again the next day! And it’s smart enough for work.

I like that. My other hobbs shirt dress is lovely but quite long.

Anything in very lightweight cotton. Heavier cotton or with a lining was too sweaty.

I’ve bought three dresses so far this summer, they’re all 100%cotton, just knee length, midi and maxi, all under £30, loose enough to be cool, but all still flattering. My very favourite hot hot hot weather dress is an old M & S terracotta one from about 6 years ago, wish they brought the same shape out every year…great cotton fabric, shirred back, lined bodice, adjustable straps, floaty but not tent like

Where is the beige one from please?

Do you have a link to it? 😊

Can I ask if it's a free size thing as there is no sizing on the write up 😕

Me as well - I have 2 cheesecloth Salcombe dresses and a cord Chelsea - they are all lovely (especially the Chelsea).

At last also have a boutique in Hampshire I think and attend a number of fairs - I came across them at Spirit of Christmas so saw quite a lot of their items IRL.

Thank you!

The website looks very appealing but I'm cynical in my old age. You get astroturfing (dishonest marketing disguised as ordinary posts) on Mumsnet more and more - and on other social media, so I usually look at trustpilot and couldn't see them at all.
I'm not on Style and Beauty enough to recognise regular posters so it's hard to know whether to trust a recommendation for a small business without much to go on to be sure they're legit!

Their dresses definitely look lovely.

I looked at that too - in the longer product description it says one size fits up to UK18. I guess it will fit very differently on different sizes though!

minnowonthesay · 06/07/2026 20:20

I generally look at the underarm to underarm measurements when laid flat for these kinds of ‘one size’ items, then compare it to something I already own that fits me well.

Giggorata · 06/07/2026 20:38

I generally waft around in cotton or linen maxi dresses. They are all lagenlook or boho styles, which I like, very easy to throw on and feel cool during massive heatwaves. They can be worn without pants but with a slip and without a bra, if feeling adventurous, or really hot.
When I get bored, I dye them a different colour.
I'm in my seventies and don’t care about being madly fashionable.

this dress worked very well for me at work in the heatwave. It’s 100% cotton and didn’t really need ironing.

Is that there suggestion as to how to cool off? 😂
