Will the quality and brand of straighteners matter for this?

I tend to blow dry twice per week, mid length, natural colour.
I have cut a mid cheek level graduated side fringe that frames my face nicely (the raw straight down ozzy osbourne look not flattering me these days).

I have porous hair and since the side bits are shorter they can poof up a bit in humidity. I want to use straighteners to gently wave them back to keep them sleek. Is it worth forking out for GHD or at this level would it not matter?

I hear some reviews for the remington or cheaper leave the hair burnt or damaged but surely this is the case for all of them if used badly or too often?

I might also play a bit with creating some soft waves.

Hope you can help!

Variable temperatures on straighteners are a must. I wouldnt recommend GHDs anymore. I certainly prefer Cloud 9.

however you might find using products when blow drying will help with the styling. I like the colour wow spray, often I have no need to straighten after using it
