If you have smaller boobs, do you ever wear a non padded bra?

I'm still struggling to find bras that I'm happy with post breastfeeding journey.

I've always gone padded to give me a little 'help' in that area - also non wired for comfort since bf -but am I missing a trick?

Any advice please, ladies?

I take full advantage of my fortune in being small of nork and therefore not needing scaffolding! Ive been wearing nothing but m&s’s £10 bralets since I discovered them breastfeeding…
i was lucky enough to come of age in the Kate Moss era and being skinny by nature though, so have never wanted bigger boobs.

MyDuvetDay · 27/06/2026 16:57

i have really small boobs and my bras usually have a degree of padding but I recently bought an unpadded, underwired t-shirt bra and it’s super comfy and feels nice and light which has been ideal during the heatwave. The only problem is: nipples

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/06/2026 16:58

Yes! I still prefer underwire for lift (small but saggy!) I've got 2 bras that are Lipsy brand they are lace underwire no padding or lining etc, balcony shape and front closing. One is black and one is red. They are so comfy and give great shape! I got them on sale on next website they were ridiculously cheap! I also have a balcony style wired but non padded bra which is Panache brand and gives great shape and support. My only issue is nipple showing so depending on what I'm wearing and how cold it is I might not go without the padding!

I like the stripe and stare demi bra, padded but not wired l, and very comfy.

I prefer light padding, I think it's actually more comfy, but this is stop your nipples showing level of padding, not enhancement padding.

I do occasionally wear non-padded but notice that my nips are visible and prominent. Therefore I tend to not wear non-padded for aesthetic reasons, I don’t necessarily want ‘help’ from the padding as clothing hangs nicer with smaller boobs.

I could easily go braless but struggle to think of an outfit where it wouldn’t look inappropriate, akin to a man having their bits visible.

The only thing I can really think of that’s not padded and doesn’t trigger ‘cover your eyes children’ is a Skims bodysuit type of outfit

I’ve never once owned or worn a padded bra.

Gettingbysomehow · 27/06/2026 18:10

Im 34C and wear padded and unpadded bras. My favourite is a padded balconette from Amazon. It gives such an elegant shape.
The unpadded bras look just fine.

somanychristmaslights · 27/06/2026 18:15

I’ve never owned a non padded bra. I have such small boobs, I need anything I can get!

Ashamedtoadmit2 · 27/06/2026 18:25

I buy bralettes from H&M. They have a thin removable but that helps cover nipples. Stretchy and comfy, I can sleep in them as well.

Thanks everyone some great answers here.

I'll definitely look into those balcony bras @LifeInAHamsterWheel it's been decades since I had one of those and I loved it!

Haha 'small of nork' Love it @ScratchedSkirtings

I wonder if my nipples would show 🤔 after 8 ish years of breastfeeding.

Some investigations needed!

Had never heard of them but now looked at the website and ordered a couple in the sale to try. They look great! Thanks.

All the time, used to be 30D before breastfeeding now they’re a small B.
I mostly only wear non padded bras, I just prefer the look. I think it looks more delicate and a nicer shape. I don’t really like the artificial shape of a padded bra.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 27/06/2026 19:11

I wear bralets and DD21 never wears anything 😂

ScratchedSkirtings · 27/06/2026 20:15

Re nipples- mine are not especially enthusiastic, so I do have it easy. I also have 8 years breastfeeding under my belt, and I’d say that, in a soft bralet, they are not completely invisible- depending on the top, if you look hard you can see that they exist, but fair enough, they do exist! But they are not poking anyone’s eye out, or jumping to attention (I don’t think 😬)

springbabydays · 27/06/2026 20:19

@ScratchedSkirtings are we talking less noticeable than Rachel in Friends? That's my benchmark, definitely don't want to be that visible!

WAY less!
loving the reference 😆
(to be honest I don’t think they have enough vigour left for a Rachel level
performance, after 8 years of being tugged and chewed)

Weegielassie · 27/06/2026 20:50

Perhaps I’m being naive, but what is the issue with nipples being visible? No one questions men’s nipples being visible.
