What shoes suit casual midi and maxi summer dresses besides sandals?

What shoes do you wear with your casual midi/full length summer dresses that aren’t sandals?

i have a few fairly casual dresses, some with three quarter sleeves and often weather is not hot enough for sandals or I don’t want to wear them!

any trainer/shoe suggestions?
small heels ok!

people with ballet flats - what are your favourite brands? I have narrow feet and particularly narrow heels so can be tricky getting ones to fit.

It’s funny how people always say Converse but I never see anyone wearing them with a dress in real life - I would notice! Sling backs with a low or no heel. Mesh ballet flats.

My teens always wear converse hightops with dresses. They wouldn't be seen dead in sandals, they hate toes 💁

With casual dresses I wear all and every kind of shoe or boot. In the summer mainly sandals (loving fisherman sandals for work because they provide more coverage in the cold aircon office), and loafers or lace ups or colourful trainers.

Teens yes - mine never did. Converse for adults looks like they are trying to be teens of 20 years ago!

Probably wouldn't notice mine as I only wear maxi dresses and skirts in summer. I live in Converse all summer, I don't like my feet being 'naked'😆

But I think ballet flats or retro style trainers are both safe bets.

I feel the same but never ever wear converse. I much prefer well constructed breathable trainers.
